Tyre Wear 172

What sort of mileage are you getting from the contisports? I know it depends on how hard you drive. I havent been going around leaving rubber on the road when pulling away but drive it hard through the bends etc. I have done just over 10,000 miles and the front tyres are nearly shot. Is this about average?

i got through mine in 6,000 and i know someone who managed it in 3,500 it depends on how "enthusiastic" your driving style is ;)

So are you putting the contis on again or gone for something else. I have read on here that people havent been too happy with em but Ive found them to be OK

i fitted contis again when i replaced them and i fitted my wheels at around 12,000 and the fronts on the originals were shot again. perfectly happy with the grip and handling with the contis fitted, they break away nice and progressively on the limit rather than letting go all at once and giving you a nasty shock

Yes I think Ill go for the same again. Thanks for that. Whoever got a set shot in 3,500 must have been a total hooligan, still did much the same when I was younger too. Steadied up now I am older and wiser ?????????:D

Ive done 3 trackdays and a fair bit of hard driving and still have about 5mm on the lowest after 12k, if you light your archs pulling away or brake in coners etc they will not last, smoother driving is faster driving, so im told!

6,000 approx is average for me, running Pirelli P Zeros at the moment, and they are probably going to last about the same!! I find its the torque steer in the Cup that destroys them, not actually lighting up the tyres. Probably because I always nail it off the line, snaking along as all that power is transferred to the front wheels.

i dont know what the hell you guys have been doing, i wheel spin occasionally, take corners fairly hard quite often, and the car is on 15k and still on the original set with plenty to go!!?

Well, lets see. You come to an island. If its not busy you do one of two things, adopt a perfect a racing line and fly round it or two see just how much lift off oversteer you can induce :D and enjoy the slide.

In fact, just how I drove your car at the weekend. ;)

Thats the way to do it

how do you define "normal hard driving", come on talk dirty to me you b**ch!!!

foot to the floor, clutch up, rev to the limiter and change up

well thats my normal style of driving, never blew a car up yet :) not for the want of trying though

oh and if your not going sideways, its not worth going anywhere

and for info - i got through a set of contis in 8000 miles, the toyos were as good as slicks after 4000

Lee, if you did get my car sideways then I know that it wouldnt stop there and you would have done a 360!

And I know you didnt do a 360 coz my drivers seat was in perfect condition when you returned the car to me!;)

i got 9k from the fronts; the rears are original and have now done 16k and they are fine. I drive like an old woman normally.
