Uh Oh, new engine needed!

Found out what happened to me 172. Alternator came loose, belt sheared and got caught in the cam belt, cam belt slipped and bent all of my 16 valves!!



What a pain in the ass., If it wasnt for the warranty, this would be costing me £3500 just for the damned engine to be bought, not labour!!!!



Get it back on Friday though hopefully!! Gotta run the thing in again though!!!

There is a guy on here selling brand new 172 engines for £1200 so not that bad if you didnt have warranty

You can get second hand 172 engine for £500 and get it fitted for under a grand.

This sounds familar.

Luckily my 172 didnt go quite that far.

But it did cause the alternator to over heat, move position and cause the aux belt to split, take out the pulleys etc.

Looks like it could have gone as far as yours

Sounds like what happened to mine last year. Hopefully you wont have to wait 11 weeks like i did for Renault to work out which engine was in my car. Good Luck!
