Unlocking Iphone on 02

My contract runs out on 3gs in April, therefore i will go sim only, on what ever network is cheaper.

Is it best to unlock the phone now as im still in contract with 02?but wont be putting a sim in until like April time?

I don't think it matters mate, but you might aswell do it now as o2 are doing the free unlock
