Update: Burnt Out Cylinder

  E92 330
hi i recently posted asking for advice on my oil explosion on my clio 1.5 DCI, the garage have had the engine out and suspect that i may have burnt a cylinder out, as when they removed some injection cables ( or something like that ) the engine ran fine opposed to before when it sounded like a rattle?

does anyone know anything about the cost of repair to this or any advice getting it repaired?

so is that the bottom line, a new engine? does it sound that this is the correct diagnosis for the removal of an injector (or something of that nature, not very technically minded) as the engine runs fine with out it. would it depend on how far the car was driven for with this problem, or would the bores be scorned regardless.

Unlikly cylinder has gone most likly injectors bust. There £200 each new or so but second hand egine arn't that much even a brand new is £1.4k from Matt black crated up.

You need a better diagnostic than that though there enought cables in the dci engines Renault or someoen with there computer clip need to find out whats wrong.

Disconneting an injectors near impossible as the system owrk son massive pressure most likly they unplugged the injecotors wiring. If they don't knwo what there on about get the car taken elsewhere the dci engine a bit of a electronics lover.

If they tried removong the injecotr they'd have a right problem as trying to block it back up would be near impossible with the high pressure the lines run.

Best idea is to check the loom thats the easy cheap answer make sure there no shorts then have the injector replaced but unless the place have a Renault CLip laptop of a similar type thing they cannot reprogram the ECU with the new injector codes so it won't run right. If the looms not at fault get it to Renault to do the injector swop or simialar ie Rentech/Specialist Renault breaker etc. The dci system is very sensit9ive it requires perfect cleaness otherwise you'll damage components.

if the injectors unplugged the cylinder doesn't have combustion pressures acting on it thus it'll be quiet and smooth.
