Upgrade from a 172 to a 182

Will I get a lowish mileage trophy for £9k?
But don't I lose climate control then?

Might need more cash for low miler.

Air con is fine.

Yours is due cambelt, so i would get that done or sell it. Not cheap.

Is it worth upgrading to the 182?
Or pumping pump the cash I have into the 172?

If the ep9 is the imported 220bhp model I think your on about Its £2100 for me.

Given they were and are in some cases dishing them out for £14k that's still far too much. That same car will be worth 10/11K in a years time, I'll let someone else sort the warranty issues out on it and pick it up once it's run in.

I've actually got 9k to put on a car, A little bit of finance never hurt anyone
I have lookd at so many options over the past 4 months. Audi S3, Megane 225, I was a gnats c**k away from buying an R27 in August until the guy at Babers said that they are not doing the 0% finance anymore.

Generally I want a new turbo car But I was pondering over a 182 and just wanted to ask a few opinions!

Clios age really badly for a start so my advice would be not to throw money away on an older car!

I toyed with buying a 172 ff as many people told me the difference is minimal. In the end I plunged for a 182 and havent looked back (trading down from an Astra GSi turbo) and the extra money was well worth it as they have better residuals than the 172's for a start.

If it were my money I would keep an eye out for an already modified 182 with a few extra goodies on it as they do crop up then you get the best of both worlds....a newer car and the mods you wanted.

Yeah that were my thoughts, this idea has been pestering me for months now!
I have a good 3-4k to spend, whats my best bet?
I am still a bit weary pumping money into the car though!
And yes I have a pro speed SS exhaust, only mod!
I have Good tyres, considered some coilovers,
I have been considering the GDI Cam, remap pack?

Save up for a newer faster car imo. r26 meg maybe. i wouldnt waste your money on it cos youll never get i back.

Lol everyone has their own opinion, if your wanting to sell then sell. No point in putting money in to a car at all cos you ill never get it back. I have a ff 172 and its great its an 03 plate has 48k on the clock had it two and a half years. I will probably sell mine sometime when i get some money lol but it wont be any time soon! they are great cars, i love driving it so i dont see the point in selling it. I paid 6k for it 2 and a half years ago so i dont think i have done too bad

What about if you didnt spend that 3/4k and save a bit more until next year when the 197 will have depreciated a bit more?

Or buy something completely different? save another 5 and you have nearly 10k plus 172 money that'll give you a heck of alot of different options in that price bracket and you should get into a proper 2 seater sports car if thats what you desire?

ive been the coilovered route on a road car and to be honest now ive got eibachs on my 172 there just as good handling wise on the road, well nearly as good!

I went from a FF172 to a FF182 with cup packs . Imo the 182 handles alot better , whether thats down to the slightly wider track , wider tyres or the Michelins i'm not sure , maybe a combination of all 3 but i'm glad i did .

I did it for 2 reasons .One because i got bored of the colour silver and two i wanted a car with 3 years warranty . If i was to change now i would probably move away from the Clios as i'm not keen on the looks of the 197 and veer towards a Meggy 225 .

If you pump a load of cash into the 172 you won't see that back when you come to sell . So either go for a 182 or something totally different imo .

If you really want a turbo, then keep the 172 , save up more pennie's test drive all the contender's, R26,ST3,VXR,new Cupra and choose the car that's right for you, i chose the Cupra , best build, best resale value, very good handling , fastest car here ( don't believe 0-60 times or bhp figure's ) best tuning potential ( K04 twinscroll turbo, good for 400bhp )

A remap won't get 10hp. The 182 extra power ins't just from a remap.

before its a 172 v 182 argument , you will need to spend in excess of 1500 quid to get the same kind of power .

1.5k will get about 195hp on a 172 or 182.

You'll loose a load on any cr realy though. More you spend the more your lickly yo loose.

Err stock turbo won't make 400hp.
