Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

IIRC some members have used the Brembo HC discs from a Scenic 300x24mm.

I can do these for £97 a pair posted. Will be a bit extra for postage to yourself if you are in the Netherlands.

cheers

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Seems like a very cheap way to get big stopping power. Are there any fast road/track pads for this caliper though?

cheers, Matt

Afaik not. But isn't there a company which puts performance compounds on standard pad backplate?

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

They both have the same mounting points, already measured them today at the scap yard. A direct plug and play upgrade, only thing needed are the 300mm 24mm discs from a scenic.
But this is already been discovered by the user in the link in the 1st post.
Allthough he didn't want to share the exact part numbers ;)

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

If you can't get decent pads what's the point? surely standard calipers with decent pads will be better?

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Well for the ones who don't visit the track on a regular basis this is a real interesting (and extremely cheap) upgrade.
Surely some brembo discs/pads with these larger calipers is allot better than the standard stuff ......
Found some "possible" decent (not track worthy) pads for these (going to check the sizes tomorrow with the ones that come out of the calipers).

Brembo : P 68 026
Ferrodo : FDB1124

These should be Espace 3.0 V6 mkIII compatible according to the sites.

Pad Dimensions: 155.4 x 71 x 18 (156.4 x 68.5 x 18) for a espace v6 mk3 vs 129 X 55.6 X 18 for a 172

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Well i got the calipers and made some pictures with the part numbers for you guys.

There a bit bigger for sure, the red is the original ph1 172 (laguna/scenic caliper) the ones on the ph2 172 are a bit different but should have the same mounting holes.

And most important, the proof that it fits without any modification

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Nice! Very interested in these. Any idea what discs are needed yet? Will it be a straight forward swap on the discs as well as calipers?

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Looks an ace upgrade. Let us know how they perform. Discs look good too but aren't they 5 stud discs?
would these need a new master cylinder or are they a bolt on work straight away part?

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Well according to the specs it should fit.
Clearly says : "300mm x 24mm 4 stud vented discs"

Regarding the master cylinder, everyone i asked told me it was no problem.
The guy from the 1st post link also said that it would work, so im going to assume its as easy as that ;)

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Smokey do the standard 172/182 brake hoses fit? what size wheels are/will you be running?

Willwood 4 pots etc run the standard master cylinder so should be fine tbh

Just checked the hose and can confirm it fits straight on.
Seems like these cars a ment to be paired with these calipers :D
Im running 16" F1's with spacers so enough space to fit these.

Reckon they will fit under 15s? The 280mm discs and standard calipers already quite a tight fit.

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Might have to stick the turinis back on and give these a go. I find the standard breaks really suffer from fade after about 20/30mins of hard track use. Keep this thread updated on how you get on and if the improvement is worth while.

Good find btw  might of just saved me a fortune. Was gonna update the breaks over the winter, this could be the answer.

Re: Upgrade to Espace (2 Pot) Calipers -> Wich discs ?

Just need pads to be confirmed and whether G172 can get them.

Have now found 2 calipers so shall be having these also.

No not a fan mate as they are pretty poor discs tbh and crack between the drilled holes had them on my old valver.

Personally i will be going for the brembo discs off G172..

Ok, thats makes it official -> Mtec ones off my list.
There are also Zimmerman (German Quality) ones i only have to check what they cost and what the part number is.

Interesting upgrade, shame about not fitting 15's though.

isn't it just. Love the way the car handles on lightweight 15s. Gonna give it a try still, sure someone will buy the setup off me if I can't live with the 16s.
