Upgrading Brakes

My best friend has a 1.6 Sport and he is basically looking to upgrade the rear drum brakes to the 182/172 brakes. He told me he can get a rear beam off eBay so would it be cheaper to do that and swap the whole thing over or buy the brakes seperatly and swap them? also how hard is the conversion and what would be needed to complete the job? Any help is appreciated!

esp not worth it on a 1.6

waste of time and money tbh, unless he thinks he is going to do a 2.0 conversion, which is also a big fat waste of money
