Uprated Sound Pack Multichanger

a guy I know was telling me of his mates 51 plate 1.4 Dynamique + (Plus) which had as an optional extra something called an "uprated sound pack" and he says as a result this car had a factory fitted multichanger, and he has the same single slot cd player as my 04 plate 1.2 Dynamique, my car tho doesnt have a sound pack or multichanger.

hence I was wondering, what make/model of multichanger would his car have?? would I be able to fit one of those to my car, by what I call "plug n play" i.e. plug a lead into back of std head unit and other end of lead into multichanger........sorted?

Lastly, on clios fitted with multichangers, where are they normally mounted (under passenger seat or in boot) ??

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
I would imagine it would be a vdo dayton as thats what came in mine. If you get the right leads it should be plug and play but mines the cassette player so I'd double check. If I'm right you should be able to use either VDO Dayton or Phillips CD changer in your car.

It'll be either a VDO Dayton one or some where fitted with an Alpine/Renault one. The changer will be mounted under the passenger seat.

Yes you can fit one to your car, they crop up on ebay quite often. All you need is the changer and the cable, the underseat bracket is £7 from renault if you wanted to mount it under the seat, but theres enough car to boot mount it if you wanted to.

The only thing is, my car is equipped with a storage tray thingy under the passenger seat, will this need to be removed to fit the multichanger, and do I need to remove the seat to mount the multichanger under it.

The storage tray comes out and it replaced by the changer bracket, its uses the same mounting holes.

anyone got a part number for the 7quid under-seat mounting bracket

and is that all I do, unscrew passenger seat undertray and screw in changer bracket in its exact place??

  BMW M135i
Yep, i've got the part no. somewhere, although if you ring stealers parts department and ask for a clio cd changer bracket they should be able to order you one fine.

Will dig the part no. out if you want?

been to dealers and they offered me a kit which comes as cd changer and the lead for 170 quid. however, as I wanted the 1 as ditted to clios as standard, e.g. Initiales, privilege's etc. I asked how much for one of these, was again offered a kit, 170 quid, and was told it will work off my standard steering column mounted stereo controls stalk BUT if he remembers correctly renault superceeded the vdo dayton with a sony item, does this sound about right?

he was adamant it will work in my car and will simply plug into the cable while the other end will simply plug into the standard tuner list cd headunit

need to know if this is correct incase he's ordered me 1 that wont work via my steering column controller.

just saw this reply mate, could you dig the part number out for me so I can fone an order it from Renault mate.

jus to double check, it will deffo mount in the hole/holes for the standard factory fit tray end thing under the passenger seat at the front of it as fitted to an 04 plate Dynamique??

I wont have to remove the seat to undo the screws/bolts holding it down to remove it or remove the seat to screw the mounting bracket down??

Nope you can get the bracket into place with the changer on it and the seat in position, its a bit fiddly but it'll go in.
Yep the bracket will fit your car fine, the only you'll need are some small nuts and bolts to bolt the changer to the bracket as it doesn't come with any.

Part No.:
82 00 082 120 BRACKET CD C3 6.83 ---3 x 1

I forgot to say, my passenger seat tray, its not like a slideout tray, its actually bolted/fixed in place so you cant actually move it unless you undo the fixings and remove it completely, just so you know the type of tray I'm on about, its not the slide out tray as fitted to scenics etc.

as for bolting the changer to the bracket, I didnt think you'd need to do this, I assumed the bracket when bolted to the floor would be tight enough over the changer to secure it in place??

if not, have you got any pics to show the changer bolted to the bracket?? as I'm not sure how exactly youd bolt the changer through the bracket without taking the changer apart.

Da

  Less
they're all the same in the Clio's, the underseat tray that is. Fixed, non sliding type.

lol aye Daz just had a look in my owners handbook and realised this.

I also see what Bmh meant about the bracket, I assumed it went over the changer, I now see it goes under it and bolts to the floor.

still not exactly sure how the bracket mounts to the changer, or how the bracket mounts to the floor, going by the handbook picture it shows the bracket mounted on with the bolts mounted on a part of the floor that isnt visible ATM as the tray is in the way but I'm 99% certain when I remove my tray the mounting points in the pic wont be there on my car if that makes sense.

I.E. going by handbook picture it looks as though the bracket doesnt mount into the same mounting holes the undertray uses

the black bit with 3 holes on it on the side of the changer??

reason I asked was in my handbook the photo it gave showed the changer under the DRIVERS seat and with the tray still fitted under the passenger seat hence it had both fitted, which made me think the changer holes wouldnt be under the passenger side, an theres definitely no holes under my drivers seat to mount it to.

can I use the nuts/bolts that hold the tray down to secure the bracket to the floor?? meaning I only need to source nuts/bolts for mounting the changer to the bracket?

  BMW M135i
Yes you can, theres only 1 torx bolt in the back of the tray and the front is on two clips. You use the same bolt for the cd changer bracket as you do for the tray.

whys there no item number or part for the nut/bolt the changer secures onto the bracket with in that photo, it almost looks like the changer just sits on the bracket on that pic GR172 put up,

i.e. in the diagram the only nut/bolt shown is the 1 to mount the bracket to the floor.

You won't need the bolt or the nut btw. Only the bracket.

Unless you want to have it under the driver's seat and keep your tray.

If you're quick on those eBay items, it'll come in at about £60 instead of the Renault £170.

If I remember right there's a little raised notch that sits in the hole on the side bracket of the changer.
