Uprated suspension topmounts or oem?

  182 CUP
Hi all,

I had some new springs fitted a few weeks back and since then a slight grinding noise can be heard when on full right hand lock. It can be heard when reversing slowly mostly. My local garage just had a look and said that the o/s suspension mount needs replacing. Should i save some pennies and get 1 oem off of ebay £37, or should i do both sides with an uprated version from k-tec or Kamracing. I dont know anything about these things so advice would be welcomed. I'm all for saving money but like to upgrade things when i can. All being well, it will at some time see a bit of track action next year.

Ta,
Rave.

If you can afford the k-tec ones go for it. Some will say that new OE ones are good enough but I don't think they're as good as a good quality solid mounts.
If you can stretch towards the £200 mark then the AST are the ones to have. they have castor/camber adjustment and they're top quality. If you're about to do some track days these are the best choice

Thanks ripp. Camber bolts were in mind for next year, but if i can get them combined its a no brainer. Will have a look.

Cheers,
Rave.

If you'd got a full coil-over package, I'd think it's worth going for the uprated stuff.

But since you've just bolted on some springs, just stick with OEM, at least them you'll maintain a bit more ride compliance

Never felt the ride got worse with the mounts fitted. Heard stories that poly bushes will give a crashy ride, all miths to me at least

Not realy bothered about ride compliance, as most people on here are, i'm a bit of a sadist in that respect. It would be nice to have a play with setting etc at the track but I think it'll be a case of how much money i have to spare. Which at the moment aint much!

If short on funds, stick OEM.

the differences will be mild in all situations anyway, but if you're not going to go coilovers etc, then solid mounts seems a little overkill.

Like decatting an OEM exhaust

After much deliberation i'm gonna go oem. My thinking is that i dont know how many days i'll be able to next year...if any. Ive not been on track for 2 years now, and never in the clio. So next year after ive learnt how to drive it quick i'll have the option to have them fitted then. I'll hopefully have a new job by then aswell so money wont be that much of an issue.

Thanks again chaps,
Rave;)
