urgent help please...brakes

a little while ago i posted about a winning noise i was getting from the front passenger wheel area

i thought it was something to do with the brakes due to the large amount of brake dust i was getting

i now have the car jacked up and the wheel off, it looks like the outer pad is constantly sitting on the disk with not even a mm gap...is this right?

what should i do to be sorting this please?

sticky caliper by the sounds of it

take it apart and clean it all up, regrease everything etc

or just buy another caliper (about £80 on exchange)

I had this, caliper had partially seized.
Nothing a bit of WD40 and a hammer couldn't fix.
Once unstuck, cleaned with sandpaper and then re-assembled and repacked with grease.
Not been an issue since, I still check them every now and again to make sure.

shame i didn't have a 13mm spanner for the bolt head on the inside of the caliper to hold it whilst i turned the other side...

i need a proper tool kit me thinks

If its the brakes then a) the disc would get stupidly hot very quick b)pad in question would be worn right down!

Does it look excessively worn compared to the other pads?

13mm spanner is the most important one you need!

Nope otherwise they would always drag as such.

No Idea for certain it sets itself just close.

it must be tiny, because when i last had my wheels off, the pads looked like they were touching the discs, both sides, passenger and driver sides. i have no problems associated with stuck calipers, but i recently had new discs and pads.

Do you reckon this is why look like they are touching?

Essential equipment when owning a Clio 172.

The pad should look like its just resting on the disc, you should easily be able to turn the disc round with very little friction.
