URGENT HELP PLEASE! Problem mid coilover fitting...

Basically all I have left to do is bolt up the front struts, but currently my top mounts are sat like this:

and I know they should sit like this....

Where have I gone wrong? Hub is not completely bolted up yet, wheels are still off the car and so it is not on the floor. The only weight it is holding is the jack balancing my disks....

erm... HELP PLEASE lol!! I am drawing a blank on this one....

:bump:

Order of strut reassembly....

Removed the spring retaining bolt but left the top of the coilover strut in place ("Raceland" lol *see other thread just started) Then bearing, top hat and donut, 6mm bolt, through the bodywork into the bonnet, top donut and bolt...

Anyone??

Any takers....

I'm at the stage where I lower it to the floor and see if I can correct it then... Or take the front assembly off and apart, and start again...

The bits circled in green are what I have left in place bar the retaining nuts on the top... Correct in doing so?

Any ideas how to fix my topmount problem?

i had this when i fitted m h&r coilovers, do you remember the order you took it off the std damper? once youve taken the topmount off there was a retailing bolt holding the spring in place. pretty sure you need this. think the order went... tophat (what youve circled) then a retaining bolt. then the bearing on the bottom of the top mount then top rubber then bolt. not 100% sure put think thats how it went

I'd drop it onto the floor first and give it a test drive before worrying about this.

Just make sure once it's on the floor that the top mount is nipped up.

Thanks for the reply! Can't for the life of me remember lol! Been staring at it all day!!

I thougt it was coilover tophat, metal bearing then the donut and tophat thingy together, then the retaining bolt before passing through the hole in the body...

again not sure on that though?!

Don't know helpful this is by the raceland thread is shorter than the standards, though I'm sure mines poked up more than that

^ Appreciate that. I have dropped it to the floor and I now have the required topmount gap... Phew, thanks everyone

But the thread on the top is just flush with the nut after nipping it up, and I am sure that there was a few mm poking out on the standard dampers!

^ Cheers mate, that's exactly what I did. All finished, apparently the threads are shorter so that explains the lack of thread left visible after the final topmount nut...

people always panic about this, but it sorts its self out when you put the wheels back on the floor, i did the same,
