URGENT HELP REQUIRED

  Mazda Mx5 + Clio 172
Just finished fitting new sportlines and taken her for a drive and the springs on the front are twisting and clunking when the wheel turns, also the top mount now seems to sit a LOT higher than before. Tried to tightnen the top mounts but not made a lot of difference?!?!? where the hell have we gone wrong - ps we followed the instructions in the guide section so were not doing this blindly!

You may have assembled to the top mounts incorrectly. I did that when I fitted new dampers and springs to my old Ph1 Si. Take them apart and try and find a pic of what they're meant to look like by searching the forum.

Have you got the spring sitting correctly in the "cup" at the top and bottom?

It's quite hard to get wrong.. take some pics if possible.

Top mounts sitting higher isn't the end of the world, but does say to me that something's not right.

yes

i bet you've overtighten the top mounts (the big plates under the bonnet, 21mm) and thats popped the springs out of the top cups

you only tighten them gentley until you feel resistance
