USA Nintendo DS work in Europe?

My uncle lives in Holland and wants to buy his daughter a DS lite whilst over there. Will it be compatable over here?

Are the games region locked to the console?

There's no region locking on the ds. All the games work fine with each system.

Yep it's all good. I have a Canadian DS which I link up with my missus' UK DS, use a variety of games/accessories from different countries etc and have never encountered any problems.

Bombproof actually, had the DS for nearly 2 years now and it's still perfect.
