another thing i noticed after i'd fitted my v-maxx is that when you turn the wheel while the car is motionless, you can see the strut top mount turn aswell in the engine bay. is that normal?

Yes happens with oem struts only way to stop that is solid top mounts.

yeah that happens with the standard as well
