v6 and 182 /172 turning circle

  2015 ST2(MO)/CorsaLE
has it got you in to trouble at times! went out at dinner - bloody lorry had broke down in my local town - i needed to get out in to the flow of traffic as i had been there long enough - my lane was clear but the lane with the broken down truck was stacking up - most polite drivers would leave a gap - anyway this young girl just thought i wanted to push in so closed the gap up - so i went behind her! - there wasnt a problem in space but the turning circle on our cars is pants! so in the end i was stuck in the middle - i mounted the path a little - i dont like going any were near paths with my wheels - luckily no marks!! but i know id have easily been able to get round if my car had a normal turning circle LOL

Discuss!! (and yes i know you shouldnt commit your self till its clear in front) other wise i think id have been sat there days!

Just read this on another forum when i typed in "turning circle clio" in google..

REgarding the turning circle of the renault clio 182. It is restricted by having extra stops fitted because of the larger diameter and wider wheels, which would foul the bodywork if the steering rack was allowed to extend to the normal Clio limits.

V6 doesn't have the greatest turnin circle, but doesn't bother me in the slightest...

Ask Brisa about the turning circle of it at the Mimms meet !

Basically we approached the road to do a U turn, I swung it wide as I knew it would be tight. The fooker still didn't fit round

Also locally I went to turn a corner on a busy saturday afternoon in the town centre (by the burtons in Hornchurch for those who know it) Realised it wasn't going to fit round, I had to reverse in front of everyone on the high street ! Whoops !

Went out with my dad in his car (a 172) a week or so later, told him what I was up to. He goes you wanna swing wide & do it, like this  - he then promptly stuffed it into the kerb, kerbing the wheel & taking a bit of the sidewall of the tyre away !! Pillock !

1*2's turning circle is sh1te, throw a mini roundabout or tight hairpin at it, and you'll find out. Every car I've had has been better, BMWs, Saab, Ford, VW, mini, Vauxhall etc...

I hear the v6 is even worse! Now that would be a pain

see someone does agree with me! its like driving up my drive! its not an easy car to just chuck at a point like you can some cars! and reversing is just has hard - often i have to have two attempt when its very very right!! :(

Having done 51k in my 172, I know all too well. When I have friends in the car and I'm doing a U turn or something they must think I can't drive, cos I'll pick a wider part of the road or bail out before kerbing my wheel. But then most of my friends haven't got a clue. Mate of mine still boasts about his old car having 6 gears, and wouldn't believe my tyre was inflated, cos it's a 45 profile, he was adament it was flat, and then that 33 psi was way too inflated!

f**k the V6's turning circle, it's the £455 cost of road tax you want to worry about by 2010!

This thread needs the video of Christopher doing the Austin Powers 20 point turn.

yep, rubbish IMO, my old golf 4motion could turn on a 2p compared to my cup

Its not brilliant but compared to my PH1 106 without power steering the turning circle is ace!!

It did get me into trouble in a car park the other week though as I had to get a que of traffic to backup so i could get round a bend!

Compared to my GF's cooper s though its rubbish! How come bmw can get a hot hatch to turn correctly but the renualt boys can't!!

I find it more embarrasing than anything! It's worse being a girl because people just probably think I can't drive!

I haven't had any dodgy situations yet, but I always plan ahead where I take it!

you do have to plan ahead with the vee, its ok on the road but any car park requires thought. you sorta have to turn the steering wheel before you brain thinks you should. its odd! i have to do a lap of my work car park to get the angle to be able to fit into my spot without a 3/5 point turn.

Go into hornchurch, then try & turn left on the corner where Burtons is, mega embarrasment !! You'll have to go round the old pub in the middle of road & then turn right into that road. Mega silly:eek:

Try a 306 gti 6 turning to the right now that is a joke as i found out in a multistory doing 3 point turns to get up each level lol :)

bah,, you have a v6 up its arse! few revs bit of clutch and roberts your fathers brother!

I have foudn the turning on the 182 a little pants tbh. My old punto i could just chuck into a parking space, but the clio seems more reluctant to go in easily. I usualy findmy slef having to reverse out and starighten up, something i rarely did in previous cars.

Ive seen someone do a 7 or 8 point turn in a vee, quite comical to watch.

Are you kidding!! :D Its pathetic! Not compared to a V6 obviously, but still!

Cheers for the exhaust mate, sounds great.
