V6 Brake Problems

Anyone else experience problems with sticking pads after car washed or not used for days? I know Boxsters have similar issue.

Usually they free of with a slight bang and discs obviuosly clean selves of surface rust. However we came to go out other night after car been stood for 5 days and f/n/s wheel locked. Could drive car along with wheel dragging! both forwards and backwards. Ended calling Renault Assist who had AA patrol round within 30 mins. Fortunately had a trolley jack low enough to jack up car, bearing in mind it had sunk in its own new ditch it made! Wheel off and eventually he freed pad off.

Now i understand the moral is to use the car frequently and take it for a run after washing.

I used to experience this after washing the car, in my Mk1 more than Mk2 but did experience it in both cars!

The answer, well it was simple for myself, after parking the car back in my garage, just make sure I didnt apply the handbrake. Not ideal I know, but it worked.

Oh the joys of v6 ownership, lol.

  Embarrassed to say

I dont think its limited to the v6. My mates vx220 had the same thing. He left it for 2 weeks and it wouldnt even move, he had to full throttle clutch out then bang as it released...not something i would have done.

a lot of cars do it

very common on 172/182s

my car wouldnt move out of the garage after being parked for 3weeks!!! had to bump it out on the starter motor to break the seized discs and pads

nowt to worry about, "normal" as renault would say!!!!

My Impreza P1 did this too. After washing I always took her for a run to get the pads warm and blow out any excess water. Then shammy the car dry. Always worked for me.

had this problem with many cars, after a wash I always take the car for a spin and warm up the brakes.

Only apply hand brake slightly then no problem.

Never had it with any car Ive had even the vee........must be the way you lot walk...............I cant walk like that Id be arrested eh :D
