V6 rolled back into railway sleeper



  Renault Clio v6 MK2
So i parked my v6 up at my friends house, put the handbreak on, but forgot to put it into gear, anyways so i come out (its dark, almost black ) and think;

'oh some f***s blocked me in.. hey he's got air vents liink mine... *walking closer* OH f**k. s**t s**t' and every name under the sun

Basically my car must have slowly rolled down this gradual slope into a standing upright railway sleeper which is the enterance to his drive.

Dansta, before being replaced by modern concrete examples, railway sleepers were large pieces of treated wood which were laid horizontally and had railway rails laid on top of them.

if you stand at any mainline station they are the horizontal concrete bits that the rail is attached to.

surely handbrake shouldn't have failed whether or not gear was engaged...still under warranty? £20k + for a car with dodgy handbrake, I'd be kicking up a stink with renault UK.

Oh and hope it all gets sorted ASAP mate, that's shite luck :dapprove:

i bet it'll cost you an arm and a leg to get it fixed coz the bumbers are extreme dollars from renault never mind spraying and fitting hope you get it sorted soon though :)

if i was you mate i would be giving renault uk sh*t loads :argue: hand break should never fail like that, hope its sorted soon its a great looking car mate i love it :approve:

Thank you all for the kind words of support through this tough time.

I haven't bothered to take it up with renault because there's no proof that the handbreak was on, they could just say 'it wasn't on hard enough, now pay for it' and that be it.

Anyways, i've had a look around the area, and i've got the tools to take it off myself, so i'll give it a go and if i start pulling on things to hard or somthing, i'll take it to renault, if not, i'll just take it of myself, order new part and stick it back on.

I need to get alot of stone chips sorted on the front (black car, white undercoat, looks awfull stone chips). Either way, this is just more money.

Petrol prices now almost £1 a litre, its an absoloute joke. Last thing i remember it was like 87.9 or somthing.

Any other v6 owners notice the tank go down super quick as it gets towards the end ?

Couldn't it be repaired rather than replacing the whole bumper? Quite a few companies specialise in those type of repairs (mainly for Lotus' etc)

Unlucky, is there any damage to the bootlid? The sun's shining on my screen, can see properly. lol.. hope not anyway.

My dad made this same mistake when facing downhill in a sidestreet, basically brake discs must have cooled thus reducing the grip by the pads. Rolled down the street into a metal post. D'oh!

gutted for you m8, my 225 slipped into the garage a week after I bought it, never had to park 172 in gear so didnt with the meg, they could really do with a proper handbrake but cos renault put the bearings on the inside of the rear discs they cant :(

unlucky mate, could of been worse tho.

my handbrake is so shite, i dont bother to use it! just leave it in gear.

Very sorry to see the damage to your rear bumper :(.

Agree front end is terrible for stone chips ... after 10k miles mine looks like it's been sandblasted in places :(. I'm expecting to have to get it resprayed every 18 months or so if I want to keep the chips under control.

And yes ... the tank/gauge is totally non-linear. First half takes most of the time, then the next quarter is a bit faster, and the last quarter goes in a matter of miles.
