Valver bonnet

  Valver Lookalike Mk1 Ph3
Right, I've done a front end body conversion on my mk1 Ph3 to Valver parts. Problem is with the valver bonnet, the bit that fits underneath the 'scoop' won't fit in because my engine is in the way - so question is, do I definitely need this part? Will it do damage if it rains down into the engine bay?

  Valver
On the valver its airflow to the exhaust manifold, so unless you have a valver engine conversation you don't need it.

However I would say water running down constantly into your engine isn't good and could cause corrosion in some parts, so you could cut the bottom bit off but leave the bit tht sticks to the bonnet and tape up behind it with some black tape or sealant to stop water getting through...

So that 'scoop' isn't just to het some cold air into the engine bay?? It actually connects to something within the car normally?

And does any1 know for sure if water would cause problems?

I know some one with one on a 1.2 and the electrics are on the blink a lot so its probably beter to do it. I think the vent swas just a bit of bull**** for the looks cos the 182 doesn't have it.

You what??

182 is a completely differnt car, it doesn't have a bonnet vent.

No, you don't need the rain catcher, there isn't anythign important under there that wull get very damaged if it rains.

if you stick a K&N on there, its lower then teh std air box, so the rain cather wiull fit.

For the record the vent on the valver bonnet is, becasue of the bulge a low pressure area, so air gets drawn OUT of the engine bay via it rather than in, hence sucking out the hot air from around the manifold ont eh valver/williams.

So fitting one above a K&N etc on a 1.2 will onyl draw the hot air from the engine bay towards the filter, actualy making the car SLOWER

Why ****ing tape it up?

Just don't have the rain cather on there, i'm running my RSi wiht no rain catcher, and i ran my 1.2 wiht no rain catcher....absoloutly NO problems
