Valver Brakes

Right, My valver has now had a few tweeks to make her faster but ive now realsied my brakes are sh*te and need sorting. Whats the best to do but keepin price down? Better disks and Pads? If so, what should i look to get?

Have a look on K-Tecs and BBPTs websites.

They both do big brake conversions (285mm) fairly cheap, as they use the standard caliper.

Im getting a 310mm 4pot conversion soon hopefully......

They supply extension brackets for the calipers, so yes they fit striaght on more or less. Standard size is 259mm, so uprated 285mm discs and pads should slow you down a bit quicker.....

Dont bother will rear discs/pads, they do so little braking you wouldnt notice the upgrade.

I had Standard discs and pads on mine.. Jas has drilled ones (i dunno.. special expensive ones) and he said mine were better... but its upto you really.

Mine were good enough (still are really).....

I just want to be able to outbrake F1 cars lol! :p

Drilled discs are cr*p imo, theres no need for the additional cooling that the holes give, it just means less disc contact with the pad.

Yeah mine are ok, far from bad! Its just theyre starting to fade a bit so new disks and pads seem a good option. Bigger disks look the sh*t behind your whhels too! mmmm Audi Rs4 Brakes droooooooool!

Thay are with a standard car! Bit more power means a bit harder to stop!
yea, and your going much faster than a std car right.

Nothing wrong with drilled discs..for road anyway.

Im hoping to get the 310mm upgrade too but the price jump up from the 285mms is huge! £300 or something..

I was only gonna get the 285mm ones, but saw the 310mm conversion and thought f**k it, theyd look awesome hehe!

Same! Especially as i have 16s the discs would fill the whole space nicely!

£540 + a life, or, £775 + a bad lookin mo fo..hmm!!

sod the life....well for a while anyway!

& wheres that price from?

This is from BBPTs website;

BIG BRAKE CONVERSION / BILLET 4 - POT CALIPERS (310mm)
£680.00
Club discount would bring that down a fair bit too.....10% at BB isnt it?

Thats a k-tec quote, is that including vat? Looks like k-tec will have to give me a price match!

However the discs are 2 piece which makes them expensive, got a web link?

Remember bigger disks need bigger wheels. If you have 15s and wanna keep them only option is new disks and pads. Tarox are good.

Also think Tarox do an uprated caliper to replace front OE ones and still fit normal size disks.

Is that on standard calipers John?

Im hoping for enough braking force to give me whiplash with the 310mms and 4pots lol!

yep standard calipers

but the way i look at it you may have 4 pots but the master cylinder is the same

i have been in a car 310mm 4 pots and they felt the same as mine do

Tom youre right they do 300mm, not 310mm. Found out k-tec use better spec calipers (dust sealed).

The master cylinder is a limiting factor but there would be an obvious difference between OE and a big brake conversion still. Depends how much you tested i guess, first of all they would probably never fade, and braking from high speeds will be better.
