Valver Engine Mounts

Gear lever seems to be moving about a fair bit and seeing as I've already replaced the dog bone with a gsf dog bone in the last couple of months I'm guessing it's time to do the other two.

Am I okay getting them from gsf or is it better to get them from Renault?

What should I look to pay?

Most importantly, how hard a job is it please!!

Nope it'll be the dogbone mount. Just use a genuine replacement. They have lasted 10odd years, so shell out the £35 for one and not bother about it again. The pattern part ones will last a year tops.

As I say, I've already bought a dogbone mount from gsf a short while ago.

What makes you think it's still this mount? What I don't want to do is shell out for another dogbone when this is supposed to be fine?

Take it off and have a look, Get a screw driver throung the midle and move it around, see if there is any splits in the rubber. The symptons youve described are for the dogbone mount.

go buy some Tiger Seal/Bond......

take your dogbone off, clean off the dirt, now fill in the gaps in the rubber circle with the Tiger Seal/Bond.......let it dry, then refit it

should be much better

In which case I'll have a look.

I'll be disappointed if it is that mount again, not even worth taking back to gsf and complaining though I guess.

Tried sealing it last time and didn't seem to work, but then I used some pink stuff that was supposed to be good.

Where can I get tiger seal from then Brun?

the gsf one is not original. and i have seen one and they seem pretty weak. i would buy a genuine renault one or and uprated one from hill power (these are very good and strong)

I did wonder, didn't look as much of a beefy rubber joint. I might try removing it and buying some of that u-pol tiger seal stuff to put in it.

most old school motor factors will probably keep it in, its used for bonding spoilers etc to cars

or just go to your local bodyshop and get them to fill it up with the stuff. save you buying it and then just chuck him a fiver!
