Valver spewing petrol onto engine!!! HELP

Hi, i was driving home a minute ago and noticed a strong smell of petrol. When i got home I noticed that petrols was poring from the drivers side corner of the engine bay, right behind the headlight. The pic below shows the area where the petrols seems to be around. I will take a look when the engines cooled down! Anyone any ideas? Its only leaking when the engines on. Its a 1996 clio 16v. No idea, i'd get it fixed ASAP if i were you though, they run hot enough without the addition of flames!

I imagine its coming from a pipe or hose where it joins onto the injector rail or something else similar to do with the injection system.

yea by the poly v belt area i would say i expect the belt cut through it. you had a cam belt lately

Yeah a pipe must have split somewhere..

Rather you than me sorting that out though, it's daaamn tight behind those headlights

Thanks guys, gonna go check it out. Yeh had a cambelt 10k ago. I am gonna go and buy a Fire extinguisher for sure now!! I let you know how i get on... thanks again, Sam

Hi guys, checked it out!! Whats happened is one of the two fuel pipes feeding the injectors (I presume) has split as the cambelt has worn through it. I see that the two pipes sit on a little plastic guard righ on top of the cambelt??? Is this correct? If so, seems like a bad design! Obviously, over time the cambelt worn through the guard, then through the fuel pipe. Can anyone tell me any prices or part numbers for the pipes? Im a bit concerned about the pipes sitting on the cambelt? Is this correct or have they been re-assembled incorrectly after a cambelt change?? Many thanks, sam

the pipes wont be sat in the 'locating clips' properly in the blackl casing, just get some fuel pipe from anywhere and re route it up round and over the tope engine mount. speak to gunner gibson as he did this mod to his,l if mine ever split i;ll do the same but if it aint broke dont fix it for me

Hmmm, i saw some pipes suspiciously close to my cambelt the other day when fitting new headlights... *gulp*!
