Very slight gear crunch when shifting fast

  Albi Blue RS 200
As per title, I've had this for a while. There is a tiny split second crunch when driving the car hard 7k+ RPM and shifting fast, I know logic says well don't shift up so fast but I'm in the habint of quick changes. Dog bone mount, oil?

Also I get a very odd shunt forwards when changing gear, hard to describe but they are never too smooth!

I can't for the life of me think it would be the box as it was rebuilt before I bought it apparantly!

you sure it's just not your clutch action? smooth as a bunny when you change gear at high revs really.

Crunching = Broken. Really really common fault on the cars mate. Don't worry about it, it will probably last the entire life of the car!

100% my gaffer took it out and said he had the same, it's just a really naff drive at the moment and annoying me

When you change down aswell sometimes I can feel the resistance through the stick of it clunking into gear. Definitely not smooth changes at all atm.

Well no it shouldn't be, the GB was rebuilt apparantly before I bought it.

My 197 does it too lad. Although Renault are looking into that, as they're not sure what it is either.

Mine does the exact same thing at the same RPM. I uprated the mounts in the dogbone mount and it helped it a bit although it didn't completely eliminate it.

How long has yours done it mate, not happy with the drive of the car at all sometimes

have you tried applying a bit more throttle during the change? You could check the GB oil level, but if it's been recond, then chances are it'll be fine.

Since I bought the car 8 months ago really, at 1st I just thought it was me due to poor clutch work/getting use to clutch. My other Cup use to do it as well but that one definitely had a worn dogbone mount.

The only thing you can do is either change up earlier or try and make the gear change as smooth as possible. Does yours do it every time? Mine just does it occasionally.

Might try the gb oil route i heard the wrong stuff in these clios can cause havoc perhaps a chance its not up to spec or something.

Normally only on trips up to 7k rpm and some attack mode shifting :p

Did it twice going to 3rd and 2nd when I was giving a mate a demo of what the car is capable of ;)

Thing is even round town its a crap drive it seems to lurch into gear and bunnyhops a lot

My 172 gearbox crutched, my 172s second gearbox was notchy and crap, my 172s 3rd gearbox was crap and notchy.

My 182 has crunched in 5th since 11k (when i bought it) and is notchy and crap in every gear.

Changing from 3rd to 2nd might as well give up at high speed, and trying to select 1st at anything but stationary is not gonna happen.

Everycar i've ever driven has had a better gearbox that the RSs

Just giving it a good dab of throttle to match the revs as you change down helps loads going 3rd to 2nd. Agree about going into 1st though, it's pants for that.

yeah i've mastered the trates of the gearbox, don't like changing into 2nd at anything above about 40 though, eek!

  RS RIP
^^ i think a lot of your clutches are'nt adjusted right when reading this. Mine goes into first fine when rolling at traffic speed, no crunching whatsoever with lots of nasty trashing speeds
