Video Playing Headunit - Handbrake Cable Wire

I've just got a Pionner MVH 8200BT, and it allows you to watch Ipod videos.
I was just wondering, on the loom there is a wire your meant to wire to the handbrake, is there any way of bypassing this and making it work all the time?

Do you connect it to an earth point or positive feed or something like that?

There are a few vids on youtube of other pioneer models with a few different techniques of doing it. Some use a switch to do it and some connect it directly to a earth.

most of the time you just earth it. but check first.

All of the JVC models i've encontered will work with either being grounded or having a 12v supply put to them, guessing its because different cars will work in different ways.

Yea that's what I thought, just not sure how to do it though.
Why would you need a switch?

It can just play videos off an ipod on its small screen, I probably won't use it but just thought I'd sort it all the wiring out when I put it in rather than having to sort it out if I do ever want that feature in the future.

I'll try grounding it. Or try attaching it to a positive feed.

Haven't put it in yet! Only got it out the box, I'll let you know tomorrow! Very nice looking though.

Yeah, I really like the piano black finish that Pioneer have gone with on this latest bunch of models..

on the stereo you will have the option to revert it to whether you want a 12v feed or a ground to activate/deactivate the screen

I've just got it in. I wired it to the Ground wire, got rid of the message it flashed up. However I haven't actually got any Ipod videos to work yet, just plays sound!

One thing it doesn't half sit out quite a way, makes it look massive, Im not sure if I like it.

I'll put up pics and stuff later when I've had a bit more of a play.

yea it is quite chunky! I've still got it so can get a few more pics if you like.

I did take it from that angle purposely to show how much it stuck out, but from the drivers seat it looks fine tbh.

Just connect the cable 4 the handbrake 2 the earth cable on the wiring harness. job done
