well had my first experience this morning.

sorting out internet - took all of 2 minutes.

sorting out printer/scanner etc - all of 30 seocnds.

vista does it all itself! i am truely amazed at how it seems so user friendly and quite idiot proof.

very pretty also.

i will be upgrading next week myself :)

or am i in the honeymoon stage?

Overall I would say if you just want to do the normal things it does that fine, if your buying new software it's great.

I use it on my laptop, and increasingly all the time now, and I think it's crap. (It's going on this desktop later this week probably)

But hey.. I still use it.

Then again, I thought XP was crap until SP2, too.

^^ agreed

mating it up to an existing software catalogue is where the fun starts

what do you mean by that?

Lots of older software has "issues". Most work, but not 100% perfectly.

I only run Photoshop Elements at work as I'm not an artist but often need to do simple editing. Elements 4.0 has problems with Vista, so I had to upgrade to 5.0 with the latest updates to get it to work properly.

Stuff like the old version of Power DVD I have works okay, but could be better.

Other than that I've been very happy with it. We won't be rolling it out across any sites any time soon though, only for QA purposes.

vista is currently awesome.

miles better than XP.

not saying its "better" than linux, but its certainly so much easier if youre the kind of person who just wants to install something and have everything working for you

You need loads of pointless crap on your sidebar Seb. It's great for wasting system resources.

i hate widgets and crap like that :\

The pistonheads and leftlane newsfeeds are cool. Plus I've got some pointless pictures that go by and the weather and time. The weather appears to be wrong at the moment. lol

Edit: my bad, opened the blind and it's wet!

Why are there so many different versions of Vista?

With the new apple OS 'Leopard' theres only 1 version for like £80.

I like Vista. I only have one issue with nero media player. It keeps getting an error message but still works fine so I ignore it.

I'm impressed with the look of Aero and the widgets. Normally the weather is quite accurate for me.

can you get leopard for pc?

can you still play all the latest games if you can?

Not really...

Buy a Mac, run Leopard, and then run Vista either in a Virtual Machine (Parallels) or dual boot natively.

It's funny really. Quite a few people at work have bought Macs recently and every one of them dual boots or run Parallels into XP so they can actually use it for anything more than listening to music or blogging!!

Yeah it's cool, but it's also useless most the time. For home use and none gaming I'm sure it's superb.

To be honest I was the same. I had a Mac Mini and a gaming PC. In the end I sold the Mac Mini shortly after I bought a Mac book in yank land last year. Now the gaming PC gets used for gaming, downloading, odd bit of surfing if I am on it.

Mac book dual boots Windows XP but 90% of its use is surfing, Iphoto, bit of photo shizzle and wireless wa.nking

My Main PC is running Vista mainly because it will be required for a lot of games and I need to learn how it works. But I dont like it to be honest.

I much prefer XP

everyone hates change, look at a few examples:

y-fronts to ck's

old forum to new forum

182 to 197

;)

but both are better. :quiet: i imagine it will be similiar for xp to vista.

dunno about that - my Ex-GF gives a much better BJ

I like Vista, not a had a problem with it as of yet.

All the new features seem good, I'm sure they will iron out the issues with upgrades etc within time.

I have a dual boot on my macbook, purely to run some phone stuff thats really techy.

Other than that i have never used a pc to play a game since red alert.
PS2/Wii for games Mac for computing.

We have a vista machine downstairs (mum likes office on vista thats the only reason)
Virtually the same spec as my Mac, but with better graphics and its crap and slow.

The Sooner an SP the better, why is it so bloated! it takes ages to boot and aero seems to make it die, very odd.
