VTS :|, 182 slight exhaust blow..

I had a play with my mates vts earlier, sport's cat, full system and filter on his, mine just standard with a small exhaust blow from the downpipe > Cat Joint... I could only pull on him very slightly, not alot at all... miffed now cause i thought it should be more and this is about 4 attempts from 3 - 100 about a car length max.. Could the exhaust blow be slowing it down alot ?

VTS's are quite quick for what they are, they weigh less then the clio too..

The exhaust blowing has been known to cause quite noticeable power loss.

Yes, probably one of the single biggest losses of power than can easily be rectified!

A ClioRs even when it is totally standart is much much quicker than a VTS with those mods.

Something is causing you a power loss I'm afraid.

Only thing i know of is a slight exhaust blow and a non genuine catalyst and thats it i thought vts's are close anyway but i reckon i should have had some more

Depends where its blowing. The particular join he mentioned is known to cause power loss

You're obviously misled. I've had a do with Christopher on here with 2 people in my VTS which has a massive gay open IK and he was on his own in his 182 with breathing mods. He was faster, but not "much much faster". From 60-90 about 3-4 car lengths, 80-120 about 5 car lengths. That's not a massive difference.

my friend has a vts and thst is pretty quick, not alot in it to 60 then after60 do tend to pull 3-4 car lengths, very underestimated and not to be confused with the poor vtr

Yeah, i think where its blowing would have more of an affect say if it was blowing at the backbox instead.. I dont think i was driving my car to its full potential either so cant be helped to much there..

Also standard 182 Cats, are they cylindrical ? or more like an oval rectangle kind of thing, reason i ask is mine doesnt sit very well so have a feeling thats not standard which could be slowing me down too..

I think people expect massive differences but to really make a difference you need a LOT more power or at least power to weight. IMO if you beat a decent quick car by 5 car lengths then thats a fair distance imo

Distance will increase with speed. If you have a better start, the distance will appear to increase with the acceleration - even in two identical cars!

It sounds daft but it makes sense!
