VW rad for ITBs

I'm going to order a VW rad and slimline fan this weekend and I've already got a fan switch blank in case the rad doesn't come with one.

The current fan has two plus on it, one for the motor and one on the shroud. When I wire the new fan in will I just need the motor wiring and not the one going to the shroud?

I know i've only got one plug connected, but Andy did that bit, so i've not paid much attention.

Just the one for the motor leave other disconnected. All works fine.

Never looked into it but I think it's to dk with aircon fan operation

Thanks guys! I've found a brand new suitable VW rad which has a core size of 525x322x34 for £24 posted. So £46 in total with a 12" fan as well is quite a bargain!

That sounds about right. The ballache is making the brackets up to keep it in place, but it's not too hard.

the plug on the shroud is for a resistor pack. it's part of the variable speed control for the fan. Don't need it as soon as the AC condensor is removed. Cups don't have it

Its not the Polo one, agreed that is too small. That's the one most people use 528x299mm with a core thickness of 22mm

The one I'm getting is 525x322 with a 34mm thickness, which isn't far off the standard size of 476x399 with 34mm thickness.

Polo rad is a bit small for a road car just to warn you
was fine on my daily for getting on a year. It's perfectly fine until you raise compression and the heat is increased by having to r****d the ignition. If a stock compression engine is getting too hot for a polo rad (or similar) the ignition timing is too retarded at low rpm/idle (which is where they will get hot, in traffic)
