Did a bit of a deal with my brother for a scene safe VW van.

He gets;

And I get a Pile of rust and a large welding bill.

Plans are to get a mot on it, slam it and put some banded steels on.

I love them at shows and on instagram with a filter but seeing slammed cars driving about on the roads looks horrific, especially when you see the driver getting battered about inside 😂. They’re also never doing more than 8mph

How are you going to lower it? investing in bags or just the static method?
Get some engine bay shots & interior.
What engines do people put in them?

Pug XUD9

I put a XUD9 in a mates it was ok but was a little low geared at 20 mph/1000rpm in top
I think a petrol is better

I think hydros are the in thing.

50 -70mm springs will be what’s happening I think eventually.

Love it. Keeping it a panel van?

I’ve got a cheap t4 recently as my first VW and I can see why folk like them. And the scene has the most variety in my opinion.

On money invested / returned I think 60/70s British classics and VWs both get you your money back for what you put in. Just VWs prob give a bit more of a nod to modifications etc.

Sticking with the panel van but hopefully putting a rear bench in so the kids can come out (in the dark).

I'm on a few Transporter FB groups and the amount of questions about which BF Goodridge/raising kits people use is crazy! Folks selling their bling alloys and hunting for Amorak steels!

My mate built this for a client. Cool as if you ask me..

Love a T25 though. My old man had them as work trucks when I was a young lad. I can still hear their distinct engine tone. :)

I love 'em swampered! And it makes much more sense for a lot of folks (MTB'ers/builders etc!) Transporter HQ and Solow suspension have built a couple of nice ones using double cap/doka's although the rear deck on that one above is awesome!

Nice choice. Love a panel van!
Had mine about 5 years. Just put a 2.0 Na Impreza engine in it and it’s transformed the driving experience. I almost can’t get used to it, it’s so different.
Best advice I can give if you’re having bodywork done is pay serious attention to the seams. It’s almost impossible to remove the rust unless you take the panels apart. It will almost always come back through you nice new paint in a few years. I used a 3 stage product called POR15 which worked very well but hasn’t kept it at bay everywhere.
you should check the 80-90club forum. Plenty of good info and advice in their wiki section.

Are you keeping the Porsche twist wheels silver ? I like them done in dopey colours like baby blue or pink etc. 😁

Yeah, I’ll bob them on and see how they look.

Ordered the shocks and springs today.

70mm AVO set up. Not made low but should make it look a little better.
