Want to start using pressure washer. What to buy?

  133, 182, Kangoo 182
Was cleaning the lil' Clio at the weekend with my buckets and sponges but almost picked up the pressure washer to use instead.

What cleaning products/lances would be best? I fancy doing some snow foam but don't know what's required or how to do it! lol

Any help?

Lol sorry! I do want to get out of the "normal" cleaning and treat my car with repect!! ;)

Thanks I'll pop to halfords at lunch.

Just a quick one on this. If you buy a cheap Karcher and it goes wrong out side of warranty (say in a couple of years time) they can't do replacement parts for them. We bought a fairly expensive one at the time (level two or something) and they don't make spare parts.

Currently running a "level 3" and means the pump can be replaced if it ever goes wrong.

Just a little bit of advice direct from Karcher that I thought I'd pass on.

Thanks mate. I'll be using my Dads pressure washer (which I'm pretty sure is a Karcher :S). It's quite old so I'm sure if it did go wrong he wouldn't be fussed about buying a new one.

Looking at the foam and the lance on i4d.. could I get one cheaper or is that the price you have to pay for the lance?

Edit - would this do for starting out? Once I get the hang of it I'll be buying more products and would buy the one form i4d. Only different is gonna be the bottle right? I hope..

It's the price you need to pay lad. Group Buy got it down a little bit, but not by much. It's an expensive hobby chap :)

Can we ban him for using the above word in the detailing section?
Do a search for snow foam lance and snow foam. I got a cheap karcher lance from hellfrauds was about £10. Does the job though.

Calm down agi, count to 10...

Just buy the snow foam lance from i4d mate, it'll be worth it in comparrison/long run.
Plus we get discount from i4d iirc?

Chris.

For 17 quid it is not worth it mate, in all seriousness. You can't adjust the dilution rate, which is quite key on mine. I would just buy the one from I4 or CYC mate.

Think it was a joke Chris lad ;)

I think there is a discount, CYC currently use a points per purchase system, so win win.

Would that one from halfords do for trying it out?

i had the cheap one from Halfords (HP1400?) - it was on offer at £35 and has apparently gone back up to £70 now. it didn't last long anyway.

it's a bit of a lottery with cheap power tools - i've another PW (B&Q own brand) that cost about £40 donkeys years ago and still works fine (now that i've cleared the nozzle out anyway - wish i'd done that before condemning it and buying the crappy Halfords one).

ed. scrub all of that - just twigged that you're talking about lances and not machines. apols

^^^That really sums it up, personally if it's a lottery, I would honestly spend the money now, save spending it later.
