Warm hatch options? And what to do.

  E36 M3. 182
I think they look alright, the mesh top recaros look a little like the ones you got in old (rwd) escorts.... Definately a cool car IMO. But then again, im well on my way to my 30's and what I think to be cool probably isnt in tune with the yoof of today...

Its a shame they cant make a good looking one, that thing looks like it would keep up with 106s on the track

The Ignis perhaps. But I wouldn't say the Swift Sport is a bad looking car.
I've driven both, and both are a hoot. Don't knock them before you try them.

It's a shame the Igins is a pup looks wise.

If that article above accompanied pictures of almost any other warm hatch it'd be a no-brainer, Especially when you consider what you can pick a recent low-miler up for.

I think you should keep the 1.2. Whatever you buy you will regret as in years time you will want more power.

I get the feeling that the kids still don't believe that a well-driven Ignis is a match for a Clio.

Looks wise the fiesta is better, performance wise I would say the swift over the ZS unless you get a ST.

Your insurance quotes are good by the way for a 18 year old, I checked one last night I'm 23 with 5years NCB's came out the same as what your getting takes the piss.

Me personally the ZS keep the costs down insurance is only going to get worse IMO.

My mate a Swift similar to the red one on this page and its awesome tbh. I'd have one over a ZS anyday.

Loads of my mates are pissed off cos my quotes are alot lower than theirs, i did a quote with my parents fronting, and they want 1600 for my 1.2 lol but then the same for a Cooper S

Its all fucked up, but im trying to take advantage of it on my own policy so i can eventually get whatever i want, over on ZSOC they say the ZS really isnt a car to go fast but just to make look good, i dont know if thats what im looking for, but they might be wrong

Thats another nice motor, shame bout the 5 door like you said, but surely a 1.8 Turbo wouldnt be easy for me to insure?

Yeah I was just looking round for myself on eBay, when I was replying so threw it in to complicate things.

Is it out of the:-

Swift
Zs
ST
C2

  Meg 300Cup
Probably not the swift, theyre quite expensive compared to the othere and im not sure i like it tbh

Wouldnt forget the Corsa just yet, unless it handles like s**t, and im gonna get a quote on that polo :p

I agree that there are prettier cars, but Polos, Fiestas and Corsas are dull as dishwater.

ye, ford need to be aiming to copy the massive great company that is suzuki  Cant get close in terms of handling, chassis development

  Shit little Yaris...
Mich preferred the Swift over the Fiesta... but the numbers didn't stack up. Got the Fiesta brand spankers for 4 Figures!

The Mk7 Fiesta ZS is a nice looking car and there's nothing wrong with the old model but they're ten a penny and don't stand out at all, every possible potential modification has been done to death too. Same applies to the Corsa and Polo, but they're not even pretty. I'm having the same issue with my Type-R, it's just a tad dull.

What do you expect when shopping for hatchbacks???

They are popular for a reason, you dont buy second best just because they are rarer. I wont buy a astra over a focus just becuase more people have focus's.

depends what Polo you are talking about, the new ones, say 56 onwards look mint IMO. esp the GTi. The swift is something to buy "just to be different". bit like halfords wheels on a clio, not as many about compared to turinis, but for a reason.

It's questionable whether a Fiesta/Polo/Corsa is better tbh, from my experience most car buyers are sheep.

You buy what you like at the end of the day, and I'm only here offering advice. There's some great cars out there that people don't realise might just be what they're looking for.

ye man course all i was saying is a company like Ford is the size it is becuase of the cars they produce. i agree people dont know whats out there which is true, but if these smaller cars were just as good as "common cars" people would find out about them sooner rather than later.

Just buy a 172 and take the hit on the insurance for the first year, knocks all the other cars in this thread into a cocked hat for everything you mentioned bar insurance. I was lucky enough to drive some rather nice machinery when I was younger but they weren't mine. You only live once!

I worked for a car sales for nearly four years and trust me, cars are a minefield! Just do your homework and take your choice, don't worry about the 'popular factor'!

1.8 SRi I think had slightly stiffer shocks but don't quote me on that. One thing I do know is they were 15mm lower than lesser models. I had one for almost 2 years and loved it, especially the fact that nobody knew Vauxhall made a Corsa 1.8, it caught a few people out thats for sure. Even the guy at my local vauxhall dealership told me there was no such car :D

The 172 costs 2500 to insure, 200 more than the 182 or 200 lol is there anything similar to the 182/172 but could be less to insure? i can see myself getting pissed off with the ZS so lets forget that one for now, its heavier and only 20bhp up and a bit more torque

  BMW M4; S1000 RR
Even by today's standards, the Mk2 Clio sports are up there with the best of the current hot hatches as far as performance goes. I was suggesting the 172 because you can pick them up for 2k. 200 you're going to be looking at 5x that I'd have thought.

If the ZS is off the list it must be the ST then? Check the polo GTi against it for insurance. Still they both have 150Bhp.

I like the Corsa but round my way there is too many 1.2, 1.4 etcs running about.

Take it down to the ST, SRi and C2 :p

Tbh theres hardly any of the cars mentioned round my way, not a single cliosport, a couple of ZS, Twinports and C2s handful of saxos and thats it really most people have bigger and much newer cars
