Warranty advice regarding clutch.

  www.renparts.co.uk
Took me 1.4 16v clio in jan 2004 reg few weeks ago due to a stiff clutch pedal and a few other niggles. went to pick it up and was told by the service manager that the stiffness was caused by a faulty clutch and the whole clutch would need replacing due to the faulty part, but it was fine as it was all covered under warranty and if i brought it in on the 11th i could have a courtesy car and they could keep it for a couple of days. fine......
went back today left my car and took courtesy car. they called me this afternoon to tell me the CV boot wasn't covered as it was lowered. Ok i can deal with that..
oh and mr davis regarding your clutch renault are prepared to make a contribution towards it but it may be wear and tear. What?? why its a faulty part..?
we don't know that yet as we need the gearbox out to diagnose it.
Ok then take it out and see whats wrong then ill get it sorted if its my fault.
No we need you to agree before hand that if its your fault then you will pay 300 quid for taking the gearbox out to check..

'Fix it, call me and ill bring the courtesy car back' hang up :)

whats the deal with this? should i be getting onto renault UK about it or what? i said i would go talk to the service manager regarding it tomorrow.

How many miles and how have u driven it?

I'd say under 995 of sutuations say it shouldn't fail in x miles if it has then its an error of design and that the garage originally agreed it was a warenty issue and they should stick to there agreement.

done 32.5k miles
I'd use th excuse/explainintion I wrtoe above then. Fred didn't kill his in 90k and he hammered it so 30k is premature wear. (OK Fred had a 1.2 but same gearbox and clutch).
