Was out in the 182 lastnight...

  Renaultsport 200
Fo0k all to do with fuel. I get v-power for its cleaning stuff not for performance benefits.

Its a very quick hatch, not an Aston.

If you want to see how fast your car is against a 1.2, have a race on a track (if you can get one that will let you actually race). Watch his face as he pulls up on the finish line and your having a brew waiting for him to come in.

I have no doubht that the car is a different class to the sh1t bag 1.2, just suprised at how it drove last night

Still yet to find the perfect 172/182 (im tres fussy about second hand cars!) so i cant comment on its performance. I can however say that in my Seat LCR, in the heat with its turbo it would be what I would call verging on sluggish. I remember joining a dual carriage way and a 1.2 16v Clio 4 down came past music booming, i booted it, more to get away from the damn bass than anything else. I was shocked it was only a few car lengths behind :O Was so shocked I immediately popped the bonnet at home to find a problem...........everything was perfect

I guess in short, heat can play havoc with performance and everyone car has its "bad days". Get out there on a cooler day with no fuel or passengers and Im sure you'll love it again!

RE petrol, Ive only ever noticed a better idle when Ive used premium, never performance gains.

ROFL, probably degraded to 92 RON by now!!

95 IMO will be fine in a standard car that's not been re-mapped, in all by the hottest weather.

The air temperature will have KILLED performance in the last few days

Suppose smaller engined cars aren't affected as much then, my mind has been put at rest, just want some coldish weather now so i can enjoy it again

  Titanium 182
Yeh suppose that could be true, I wasn't exactly propa going for it, was in lowish revs but still expected a bit of pull, maybe I was just being a bit naive to think it would blitz it without any effort.

Btw if this thread is making me sound like some young lad scooting about the place like a c**k, I aint like that, was just having a bit of a play with the car

Edit: Should also add the centre pipe is blowing quite badly which cant help matters in terms of compression, new yozza system going on in two weeks and along with the cooler weather and correct fuel should hopefully feel like its meant to

So was mine yesterday, had it sealed up as a temporary measure and it feels a hell of a lot quicker and smoother.
That will be your problem, guarantee it.

Plus now I'm using premium fuel I never find sooty deposits on my exhaust tips so its obviously cleaner.

  Black Clio GT
i bet your blowing exhaust has got worse and coupled with hot weather is gonna affect performance across the rev range.
new exhaust should see it rev a bit more freely even in hot weather.

Yup, so clearly its a combination of minor things contributing to a significant problem, going to use the v-power from now on regardless of whether it works or not, pruely for the reason its what renault recomend, weather will soon cool and the yozza system shall be going on in a couple of weeks so should be all well and good in time for the santa pod strip at end of the month :)

you do know fuel looses an octane rating every week or two don't you? Probably 60 ron by now, lol:dead::dead:

When I get into the Clio after driving my girls 1.2 Punto it feels like an absolute rocket ship from about 1500rpm, after 10mins your brain and right foot readjust and you realise it does in fact have very little torque and to make it go anywhere you need to let it rev out.

Blowing exhaust ruins the driveablility.
