Washer Jet Problems!

Headlight ones rarely spray, windscreen ones piddle out and rear is now none exsitent.

Will replacing the pump solve the problem?

Hi,

I've had similar problems. The tube was being crushed by the bonnet for my fronts which meant they worked but were weak. Once I'd pushed it back into the groove between the metal is totally resolved the issues.

The problem I have with mine now is the rear doesn't wash at all and there are no signs of water. I've tried to clean the slot but to no avail.

You may have seen my other post but I believe we are both after the same answer, i.e. will a new pump resolve this, so hopefully one of the 'gurus' on here will offer up some advice!

Yea mine is now none existent on the back and the fronts dont work any more and only 1 headlight one works. So guessing I need both pumps and also this pipe checking for being trapped.

I also want to replace the jets for windscreen to fan spraying ones if anyone knows some with angle adjustment on?

This is the pump for the 182, NOT the one in the o/p, The windsceen and headlamp pumps are the same.

If you can hear the pump running then you dont need to replace them.

As strange as it may sound, empty the washer bottle and put in a load of steradent tablets with warm water on top, give it a couple of minutes then start using your washer jets. Nothing will come out for a while, then some foam will appear. Turn off and leave for a while (cuppa t or dinner) come back and try again.

This helped me loads but i am having them checked out anyway soon.

So i got round to this today.

Replaced the pumps and everything is fine now.

I took the bottle out whilst i was at it and soaked it to get rid of all the s**t out of it.

What pump did you replace? There are 2 but i cant remember what ther both for. Last summer my windscreen washers stoped working so the pump was replaced and they worked again. But my headlight washers havnt worked for years, i would really like to have them working

i had a look at mine yesterday because they have never worked. Check that the pump is working. turn your lights on and then use the washer stalk. you should hear the windscreen pump first then the headlight washer. The headlight washer gives out two squirts (one for each headlight). That was working fine on mine so next was to take the bumper off and remove the hoses to the jets. i Found my hoses were trapped behind the bumper.Try the pump again and see if comes out the end of the pipe. This also worked on mine. So i took the jets out the bumper and opened them up to find inside a non return valve inside to be sticking shut so now ive removed both of them out the jets and got new non return valves from halfrauds to go in the hoses not to far from the jets. SOLVED

I replaced the one on the lower right when your looking at them both, thats the windscreen/rear jet pump.

The one for the headlights isnt working either as i tried both of the pumps for the windscreen to see if i could still use one.

Ive already replaced the non-return valves on mine Austin when i got it as the bottle was emptying its self every time i used the jets.
