Washing car when it’s freezing cold

  Renault Laguna Coupe

Just finished washing the car (had to stop it was getting dark!). Is there any way of effectively leathering the car when its brass-monkey weather? The water just seems to stick to it!

I helped Kathy do the V in weather like this and she kept dipping the leather in a bucket of warm water.

Im currently sporting the filthy rally look and wont be able to do anything about it until next week.

But yes the hot water trick works well.

Just dont do what I did and let the water that runs accross the road freeze

I had to spread salt all over the road!

Did mine with hot water and, being veggie, a synthetic leather and it worked fine.
Its bad for the paint to wash with hot water in the cold weather. The water temp ideally should be similar to the temp of the car surface

Hot as in tap water hot, not boiling hot - if it was car surface temperature, I couldnt bear to put my hands in it...

Youve got a garage attatched to the house havnt you mike ? pull it into that will be slightly warmer.
True, but theres only about 2 inches between the car and the wall on one side. Suppose I could do one side then reverse in and do the other :D:p Will try the warm chamoix trick when I next wash the car in March.

lol, sorry keep forgetting i have an extra wide garage that i have loads of space either side. Ive been known to wash the car on the drive with the security light on then pull it into the garage to chamois it off under the strip lights. makes life alot easier cleaning it in the winter.
