Water cooling

  Renault Leguna 2.0 T LTD
Hey ppl,

I want to invest in water cooling but dont no which setup to get, only wanna spend upto 100 quids to start off. At the mo my 3700+ is air cooled and is around 34 C idle and about 38 C load. Would WC get my temps down into the late 20s?

Cheers Matt

im not an expert but I think its not worth getting a water kit unless your spending £150 plus, as the temps with a buget kiet can be achieved with a good HSF, therefore saving you alot of money, dont take it from me, thats just what Iv read about.

do ya do a lot of hardcore gaming? because your temps are fine at the mo mate, no point wastin cash on something you dont need! :)

altho it could double up as a fish tank!

yeh, you certainly dont appear to need water cooling dude - unless you are planning on overclocking your 3700 to rediculous speeds - i sense a bang somewhere!

Your temps are fine, most cpu's can handle more than double those temps before something bad starts to happen and a lot of modern mobo's will switch off if the temp gets too high.

As has already been said you are probably looking at £150 for a decent wc set up, if you want to improve your cooling, buy a better HSF, Thermaltake do an all copper heat pipe tower, or get a ThermalRight HS, they are supposed to be the best, and a decent 90 - 120 mm fan.

Your temps seem absolutely fine, to test you CPU at its maximum capacity, get a program called Prime 95 http://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v2414.exe then run a torture test, let it run for a good half an hour to stabilise, then check you temps, as long as your still below 50c you should be just fine. Post your temps back and i'll give you more info. ^^ also don't get a thermaltake, they are too highly priced for their performance.

I would highly recommend the HSF at the bottom of this page

I have one on my Opteron which is overclocked from 2.00Ghz to 2.85Ghz and even at full load my temps never exceed 44c
