Water getting in boot at drivers side

  Jap Box
Hi,

Looked out last night and saw it was royally pising it down as my first thought was "Great, cars going to be soaked inside tomorrow"

Got in there this morning an surprise surprise the back of the boot by the drivers side rear clutser was soaked and also below that in the spare wheel well.

Now im not sure if this is related or not but if I park the car the other way on the hill the water tends to gather in the drivers footwell instead.

Could it be some kind of drainage on the roof? Might have to resort to buying a car cover if this carrys on because its causing loads of condensation inside.

I had this in my previous Clio. It was an S Reg and I had to clean out the spare wheel well every so often because it would slowly fill up with water. It caused the spare wheel to start rusting as well. I never really bothered to look into it much, but I think it was a broken seal around near the boot on the drivers side.

Mine is S reg too, and yep it is rusting the spare wheel and has managed to cause rust marks on the metal around my sub. Ill inspect the seal again but couldnt find anything obvious.

have you got a sun roof if so it might be the drain pipe witch i think runs down the inside of the rear quater

No idea if its the same on a PH1 as PH2, but my first one leaked around the rubber seals that the boot stop rests against. They are pretty much next to the headlight on the inside of the boot if that makes any sense. Mine just came loose and would draw water in on motorways etc.. Used to make the boot floor and rear bench wet.

Drivers footwell is likely to be the door seal, mine leaks on the passenger side just by the bonnet release.

The sunroof rubber on the roof skins also perish as well as the frame warping, this lets water in around the sun roof, this makes the head lining wet, usually around the sun visor. this also drips onto the seat/floor. This is a simple enough fix.

This is exactly my problem by the sounds of things, the rear bench does get wet underneath too, which I dont quite understand as the middle of the boot is dry so how it gets to there is odd.

Sunroof isnt leaking thankfully, ill check the rest though :)

Just to make it a bit clearer. Its the two little black dots next to the headlights that were the issue on my car.

Thanks, didnt think of them bits really. Have electrical taped them up now 100% so their not letting anything in. I just find it odd how it lets water into the car but its travelling towards the back seats when the cars on a hill, meaning it shouldnt travel upwards :S
