Waterpump change

  clio 172

I had a leak from the waterpump on my 2001 172, I had a look underneath and thought I would only have to remove the aux belt when I removed the 18mm bolt off the bottom pully I noticed the crank/cambelt pully had no woodruff key holding it on to the crank. I continued and replaced the pump, refitted the pully's and belt. I came to start it and it doesn't run. Sounds like the timeing is out. Can any one tell me if I can time it back up on the bottom pully?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Bit far for me to nip over and have a look really. I think you're going to have to get it recovered somewhere to a specialist and have it checked out. Personally I'd re time it, then do a compression test, and stick the bore scope in to have a look

no marks, no woodruff keys. 100% cannot be done without the correct locking tools

Not entirely true Danny, there is a timing mark on the crank. There is a notch for a woodruff key and when 1/4 are at TDC it lines up with a casting mark. To be fair though its more of a "Confirmation you've got the crank pin inserted correctly" mark than an actual timing mark.

It does 100% need the use of a crank lock pin and the camshaft setting bar to get the timing back to zero though.

I'll travel to York for you but It won't be until Wednesday i'm afraid.
