wax and sealant

  BG182FF
hi there, can somebody tell me the difference between the two as from what ive read, they seem to do the same thing? i only have enought money for one or the other and dunno which one. Reading on here, im torn between collinite 476 or 845(wax) or the FK1000(sealant) thanks peeps

They do the same thing. Waxes tend to look better and provide better beading, but don't last as long.

Sealents offer a better basic "seal" on the paintwork. Depends what you want chap. 845 will look better than FK1000p, but might not last quite as long.

As above. I always use wax as it looks better and i regularly wash my car and top up the wax. Ive gone for a sealant over winter though mainly due to the s**t weather we have and the durability of a sealant

I've not used Collonite but the FK 1000P is brilliant stuff imo. Seen other people have very good result's too.

As said, they're basically the same thing. That said, if i'm doing a full detail on a car i ALWAYS use both. Double protection can never harm.

Don't forget some Red Mist for your weekly wash too :)

Fella, it depends what you want - if you're one to wash the car without fail every week, and top up protection regularly, buy a wax.

If not, and bare in mind winter is pretty much here, go for a sealent, saving the wax (looks) for the New Year and summer :)

can you use sealent on its own, or do you need to polish first?

I mean, can i wash dry and then sealant? cheers

You can but it will seriously affect the longevity of the sealent. What sealent is it?

If you are just looking to protect for winter, slap some on. It won't last that long, but at least it will see you through winter, hopefully.
