So I got married last week. The good thing was that I avoided the tedium of a white church wedding and went on a road trip to Germany. There were about 30 guests in total, with 6 of us travelling out by car, 2 x 182’s (Me and Denis – RealNumber1) and a Golf diesel. First night stop was Brugge. I’m surprised it’s not more often mentioned as a weekend /break destination as it’s stunning.

Next stop Strasbourg. Outside the hotel:
Again, beautiful place.
We went through Germany to avoid paying the tolls. Not only are German roads free… but you also get to use the Autobahn. I love it. The lane discipline, and the real sense of getting somewhere. I maxed out the 130i last year and got 135mph+ this time in the Clio. Denis seemed to be gaining ever so slightly on me when opening them up, although it may have been my imagination or the fact I was in front acting as the wind break! We stopped for a beer then had fun messing about with some pics. The ones my wife took weren’t the best.
Denis also had some brake noises - not ideal when slowing from 135 to 70 when someone pulls out!
The drive from Strasbourg to Bavaria through the Black Forest was superb. Lots of tight bends, cambered turns, straights, long tunnels and all with amazing scenery to boot. The tunnels were fun, my BTM exhaust sounded great but I think Denis with his Ktec Induction and RS192 edged it
I was thirsty when we got there
So we then spent a week in Bavaria. I’m used to the roads having been there 15 or 16 times now, but it was especially fun in the 182. I didn’t take many pics as I generally can’t be mithered… I used to take lots but I found it quite bothersome thinking ‘must take a pic of this or that’ so these days I tend to just take in the experience. Overall the trip was fab and the car behaved as expected – an absolute hoot. I had a little bit of scrubbing on the way back (Cooksport springs + spacers + wedding garb) but that didn’t ruin the fun. Amazing also how many looks the two little Clio’s get. They still seem to be so rare across the continent – I have only seen 2 or 3 182’s in all the times I’ve been over to Germany. Anyhow, a few pics that I did take in Deutschland:

The Black Forest and Autobahns were an amazing drive. One of the best I've had!
