were 172 cup’s ever available by import

Being a limited ish run car were they ever imported like by motorpoint etc??

I have just purchased a 53 plate cup but it was pre registered by Renault UK ??

Just trying to figure out wether it was an import or not?

No mate, they would have been left hand drive if they were imports.

Im pretty sure Motorpoint and the like never had Cups for sale.

I got my new pre reg 53 clio 172 cup from renault. I think a large majority of them were like that near the end of their life. The number plate has "renault to go" on it which confirms that renault pre-registered it.

It will have a slight effect on future sale price but i got my cup for £10k brand new nearly 2 years ago with 20 miles on the clock. Which I thought was quite good!

yer the log book said last owner Renault UK the only downside i could see was it had an extra owner.

You will be too busy smiling every time you drive it to worry about the slight effect on resale having an extra owner in the log book. I know it doesnt bother me! And i still think the clio cup 172 is the best looking clio of the current shape, appart from the V6!

id give ti a 100% inspection to make sure its all in working order, ive not seen many cars with RUK plates, normally dealers put their own on, little suspect from my POV

Yeah it might be.... But I wouldnt worry too much as long as it has a bit of warranty left. My car had 20 miles on it when i took delievery but was pre registered. However my bro who works in a car dealership said that the garage is allowed to put the mileage back down as long as it doesnt go over 100 miles or something, which is a bit worrying. Mr Townsend will be able to confirm this though!

it had 30 miles on it when it was bought from renault pre registered! i did check it and it is absolutely mint!! it drives superb all i was concerned was if it was imported or not.

It must have been lying around for a while to have only 30 miles on it! Cups have been out of production for two years I think.Check for rusty rear brake disks as mine snapped in two due to it sitting outside for a while!

Phew thats a relief! I wouldnt have thought the car would be running very well now if it only had 30 miles on it. Mine has 18k miles on it and its getting faster and faster!
