Wet sanding before lacquering?

Just finishing off my bullets and diamonds now, on the bottle of the lacquer it says to do this before applying it. I usually follow instructions but after reading guides and things on here nobody says to do it!

So basically i was just wondering if i can get away without doing it or will it balls my work up if not!

You can get away with it depending how well the paint went on. i never bothered on my bullets.
