I couldnt sleep last night so I took the car out with a stopwatch for a few early morning 0-60 runs, and Im a bit disappointed with myself
Conditions were perfect too, dry and cold (6 degrees C)
First run was on a pretty flat, smooth piece of tar and I pulled of a 7.8s(remember Im at high altitude where the tested time for this is 8.4) so I was well chuffed. Launch was dropping the clutch at about 3k rpm
Further down the road, on a very slight uphill I get a 8.9s (WTF? I must have gotten the launch wrong). Similar launch to the 1st one but I reckon a bit more wheel spin.
Last run was also on a very slight uphill and I tried dropping the clutch from about 2.5k rpm but the run was even worse at 9.5s. Now Im gutted
My first question is: What is the best way to launch a mk1 172?
Second question is: How can my launch times be so different? surely a bad launch will not increase the time by such a large margin?
With respect to the timing, I clicked start the moment I dropped the clutch, and hit stop the moment my speedo hit 60. Ok the last one I hit it a fraction after 60 but that shouldnt give me a 9.5s 0-60 surely (unless my launching is utter KAK).
Maybe I need an AP-22
