Newbie here. just bought a clio sport 172. the clio is stock at the moment and wondering what is the first basic things to do to get a few more bhp and more torque. looking to spend up to £100 for each part. ive been told a air filter and new spark plugs ect.
Thank you

for £100?

decat?
remove air ducting(standard)
and put a cold air feed to it(place in better area eg foglight, grill.
will notice a slight gain.
Or you could ebay a second hand induction and stick that on. Get a V6 airbox? (if can find cheap enough)
remove weight...

doesnt a de cat make you fail your mot on emmissions? im thinking about a re map ( i know its more then 100 ) anyone had much success with re maps?

Best thing to do if you don't want to shell out £300 for a live map is to get hold of an RS tuner (think they are around £180 to buy unlocked someone please correct me if im wrong) and download a map from there, then sell the tuner on, which in total will leave you a lot less out of pocket than £100 :)

  Whichever has fuel
Unless you're doing it for noise, spending money on exhausts/decats/induction kits for performance is a complete waste of money.

Matched Inlets for roughly £100-200 is a good first mod to get a bit more out of it

Yeah but then your going to need a remap and ideally a exhaust and a better filter and by that time your hitting the £1000 mark

Best option imo is decat and weight loss

So your looking to mod the clio.. which i assume you wont tell your insurance company about.. which will void your 8 grand a year insurance.. so when you crash it they'll laugh and not pay out!!

I guess its a fair to assume that all of Chale's threads are going to be reduced to

8000!!!! WTF

LOL 8k!!!

8000 pounds a year? on a Clio?

If someones daft enough to pay 8k insurance i'm sure they wouldn't be splitting hairs at loosing 2k worth of Clio if the worst happened.

At the end of the day its his money (or parents) so it doesnt matter, Out of interest how old are you and what no claims do you have?

By the way its my own money and i have got the insurance down to 6 grand now by adding my parents onto the policy.

Im 18 and only passed 5 weeks ago.

If you can afford insurance then do it and i dont see many other people my age with 2 litres

But thats still £500 a month! You could have a mortgage for that! Im not dissing you for it mate but just think you'll look back in a few years when paying £600 a year and think it wasnt the best idea.

theres a reason no one else your age is driving a 2.0, there not idiotic enough to pay that insurance!

i'd rather save that money and put it down on a house, maybe thats just me being boring i dont know. but there's no way i'd pay over 6k! im paying £800 at 22 at i think thats expensive for a car i hardly use!

FINALLY a sensible response! of course it looks bad to somebody working a 9-5 and struggling. but if you were in my position where you could easily pay double that a month if not triple and still pay for all the other things i have then it isnt bad!

And to the people saying people my age dont have 2.0 because they arent dumb is wrong! its because they cannot afford it where as i can!

Yet you only want to spend 100 pound on 'tuning' why not go itbs and that if you have money to waste
