no it was the 200+ single throttle body one. i was more thinking the big lump of metal on the front of the manifold, battery, airbox etc

Thats big bit of metal if its the one one I'm thinking about is the injectros cover its there to protect the injectors from becoming dislodged and pouring fuel everywhee in the even of a fire of front end crash.

Theres a load of both space and weight can be removed depends how dedicated you are.

Yea thats the fuel rail guard, remove it if you wish but its there as edde says above in the case you do have a crash. The standard airbox is quite bulky.

What is the idea behind this? To see how much room can be gained to fit a different engine?

Plastic engine cover can be removed lol.

The GDI car is running standalone management so the original ecu will have been removed.

have you ever taken the top inlet plenum off?
it really heavy!
takes up too much space and has to be removed to change spark plugs!!pain!!!
im currenley fabricating my 172 a better less resrictive inlet made from oval tube shaped alu!
will be far lighter too!;)

looking at doing the same, but one that can hold the stock sensors and tb so that i can just take it for a remap and reep the benefits. looking at getting the cost to around the same for a manifold port and polish and hopfuly gain the same if not more from it, looking at placing the plenum at the front of the engine, placing the injectors on the top of the inlet runners making more space and saving a bit of weight

I have removed the aircon [all components inc pump] and replaced with a cup alternator, rail guard, sound deadening, some brackets, etc.

Just need to relocate and buy a race battery.
