Track day prep!

Was due on track today, thought I’d take it to work yesterday (as haven’t really driven it since brands a couple months ago). Put my foot down in 2nd, nearing redline and BANG!

No chance to fix it and Lydden were really unhelpful and wouldn’t let me move to the next track day later this month. Not sure why they wouldn’t as they’ve not lost money and the daily emails asking me to join this track day show the one later in the month will be even less attended.

Is it even normal for shafts on these to be hollow? Or was it an aftermarket shitter?

Fitted the whiteline RARB after it being in the garage for over a year, finally made the choice on some new Coilovers, fitted and went with a new set of Geometry settings ready for Oulton Next month.

As much as its time for me to get something M Power, I really don't think I can part with the clio 😭

Rebuilding the calipers yesterday after being a complete idiot at Oulton Park on Saturday and nearly setting fire to the brakes 😂

Put some new CL RC6's in but left the anti-rattle shims in from my oem road pads... I knew this was a bad idea but still did it 🤬

One session in and the pads had expanded and weren't free to move around, thus getting to god knows what temperature, resulting in melted seals externally and internally and also a long pedal even after a bleed.

All sorted and back to normal again now.

These were fresh a few years ago.

Hmmm that's weird. I used to leave my shims in on the race car, and never had an issue running CL6, Pagid RS42, DS1.1......

EDIT. Tell a lie, I had to remove for the Pagid as they didn't quite fit.

Took them out after it had happened and it fixed the binding issue, but obviously the damage was already done.

I've never run the shims with previous track pads and i can safely say i won't be again 😂

Today I have been mainly removing my backbox which was hanging one inch from the floor. Tomorrow I will be looking for a replacement. Next week I will be replacing my nearside front wheelbearing.

First attempt of a horn blanking plate from my 3D printing guy. I've got a ph1 horn stalk so don't need the middle button. Cannot decide on whether to have it plain or have an engraved motif design added. The steering wheel has a brushed metal effect.

New calipers, pads, discs, sliders, and braided lines at the front

Stub axle spacers at the rear

Also fitted braided lines at the back between axle and body but forgot to take a picture, and threw some 10mm slip on spacers on the front wheels.

Oh, and I finally fixed the bloody wipers. The last person to have them off hadn't located the mechanism back on the peg correctly. It's so nice having wipers that don't judder or foul the windscreen any more!

Front caliper carrier is upside down/on the wrong side.

Nothing major though.

I done this a few months ago assumed I had bent the wiper arm, got another, same problem, got a linkage then went to fit it and realised what I'd done!

Apparently the big block is meant to be a counter weight to stop resonance or some bullshit

Along with those big weights in the engine bay that are meant to do stuff, but I've not had them on my car for about 3 years now so can't have done much 🤷‍♂️ 😂

You can afford to lose the extra ballast though 😏
