What have you ordered? *Detailing*

  F56 MINI Cooper S
May go for the Britemax high shine, although it is much smaller bottle than collinite? May go through it quickly?

Wax - Britemax, Sealent - Z8, need to get some Tripple but its more P+p from their site as its not available from i4detailing. What about shampoo? normally use gold class but its pretty dear at £16 a shot which i use in about 4 weeks!

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
if you want to stick to one shop...

SRP or britemax blackmax as your mild polish / glaze.

you can then seal with either britemax sealant or the liquid wax you mentioned. should last 4months dependant on wash and weather etc etc. once you get the hang of application you'll use less. a bottle might not last as long as a pot of 476 but it's down to the individual user if the extra cost is worth the ease of use and superior finish?

monthly top ups with Z8, or britemax's own QD is very good again.

shampoo wise, again britemax's own clean max is very good, i4d also sell DDJ born to be mild that is very highly thought of as a good cleaning wax safe shampoo. What size is the gold class? can't believe you'd get through a decent size bottle in 4weeks? my 250ml AF lather washing 2 cars once a week will last me quite some time.

I quite like the britemax range but I've only ever tried them short term in samples. another one to look at from i4d is the Zaino range with shampoo and liquid sealant, think they also do a pre sealant as well ZCS?

  F56 MINI Cooper S
I use the big 1 liter gold class which does me 4 weeks-ish. Which is what i mean by quite dear at £16!

So Z8 and Britemax high gloss wax for sure.

Is britemax blackmax for dark cars though, i see it under polish but is it the same as SRP and Tripple, just an alternative?

Looked at the shampoo and they all seem a small bottle, which would probs only last me two or three weeks as I use a decent amount to be fair.

  F56 MINI Cooper S
What about Britemax AIO Max - One Step cleaner, polish & Wax - is this a polish that also leaves behind some protection as like Tripple does?

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
Blackmax is fine for all colours. gally has used it and considers it similar to amigo I believe, again I only used a sample. It's a very fine finishing oj jewelling polish that fills well also.

Not tried the all in one but think of it as similar to tripple I guess.

The shampoo you only need between 1 or 2 fluid ounces depending on wether you have a small or large bucket. Think the levels indicate up to 4 or 5. How often and how many cars do you wash in a week?

  F56 MINI Cooper S
Do my Polo and the 200, use about 3 buckets on each, and a fair bit of liquid, i find the more i put in the more suds so normally use alot. not a fan of shampoos that have no bubbles as it doesnt feel as if i am washing it properly. hence why I'm not a fan of AG Body Shampoo, too watery imo.

What is a fluid ounce? Do you mean a cap full which is the top of the bottle?

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
If hats the case then you'll always get through more shampoo than you need to, and with some shampoos probably end up affecting your wax or sealant to some degree with the excessive amounts you're likely to you.
If you want a sudsy shampoo then I can't think of any of the main wax safe detailing shampoos that will do this without over using. Useage should come down to how lubricated the wash mitt feels over the panel. Suds mean nothing TBH its just a visual sense of satisfaction that can hide a poor shampoo

If you look at the britemax shampoo it has the main body of the bottle then the catch tank at the top for measuring out how much you use before pouring

  F56 MINI Cooper S
Ok, on i4detailing as they dont do Tripple what I have done is is

- swapped Tripple and replaced with Britemax Black Max polisher glaze
- swapped collinite 476 for Britemax high gloss polymer wax

Both are smaller bottles but will do the job just as good.

Nah CYC isnt bad. Just as Dave said, bit temperamental.

I4Detailing are amazing, s**t website but Matt is great and always does the job properly, wish hed stock more s**t too. Elite Car Care is also fantastic, never lets me down with delivery. PB is good also.

I would go with Tripple and Id trade Colly 476 for FK1000p. Same thing, just 476 mutes metallic flake and FK is a little bit nicer to use. Unless youve got money to invest in a nicer carnuba based wax.

Is there a member on here who isn't a nob head and hasn't got Glasur but wants to try some?

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
heh? no understand.

I have Glasur and still considering letting it go instead of Spirit, money would come in handy as it would sell for more

  Clio 182, Astra Sri
How the hell did you use a litre of shampoo in 4 weeks Jord?!!!

Once you've done your winter prep do some research on maintenance washes, by the sounds of it you are using. High concentration which will affect your hard work with the waxing

Don't strip it! Use less shampoo :), for example 'af lather' I use 30ml to a 15litre bucket, same goes for Wolfs white satin, which can go even further

I wanna try glasur really bad!

Can't be sure that I'm not a dickhead though :)

Nah lol

Cool. Ill let you know when/if ive got it, its not at my house and wont be going to work on cars for a while. Thats if my mate hasn't robbed it - no promises. Only a bit left but ive got a brand new jar so wont be using it. My 3rd f**king jar too.

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
tripple, blackmax, amigo, britemax all in one,
can't go far wrong with Z8 or megs endurance gel
guessing you want durability from your wax? I'd still bin the 476s. Britemax liquid sealant or sealant wax, Z2, FK1000, GTechniq C2, AF toughcoat
vinyl and rubber car works on tyres but doesn't last, same with exterior plastics, internal plastics it seems to attract plenty of dust. there are plenty of better products. look at AF revive or carpro PERL.

you probably go far wrong with what you already listed but just my opinions

  M2 Comp
I don't get where everyone is coming from with CYC delivery times - I've used them loads of times and not had a single problem. Delivery has always been within the time stated.

  F56 MINI Cooper S
I have used AF tough coat, wasnt that impressed, couldnt see it going on the paintwork so ended up using ALOT of it each time, to the point where i took the spray nozzel off and poured in on without the top on.

Not necassarily durability, just shine really. As like I say, I wash every week so its more for the shine. Whats an alternative for Vinyl and rubber care, i find this ideal as its for interior, engine bay and black bits, but i also use bumper care for some plastics. Whats this FK1000, a wax? The only thing i dislike about collinite 476 is the fact i find it hard to get off, takes me ages and find myself pushing into the bodywork trying to take it off!

Also - the shampoo i have listed, is it similar to gold class, just a bigger bottle?

  Clio 182, Astra Sri
With tough coat I find its best to spray on the applicator, the spray head is useless for getting the product on panels, so I find the applicator way is best

  Golf GT & A4 Avant
sorry to say it but user error.

2 sprays of tough coat onto a MF applicator and spread it round a panel, leave 10 - 15mins for it to haze then buff off. 3months minimum Ive had from it, others ive managed more. pouring it on is asking for trouble, the more you use the longer it takes to cure so wont haze so you wont see it.

As said, vinyl and rubber care attracts dust on interiors, and doesn't last on external black plastics, tyres or engine bay. revive will look and outlast on engine and external plastics, AF spritz looks and cleans interiors well and resists dust. or look at PERL.

FK1000 is finishkare 1000

Colli 476 is great for durability but nothing much else. but if it's that hard to remove, again, you're applying too much or leaving it too long before buffing off.

I didnt rate gold class personally, wasn't really very slick and the gloss enhancers affected water behaviour. not used the bulk megs shampoo's but JD uses / used hyper wash a fair bit I beleive

  Not a 320d
Youre leaving it on the paint too long then, apply one pannel at a time as thinly and evenly as possible, then test with your finger to see if its ready to come off (usually immediately after applying) and remove. I use to leave it on the paint like that and had to use an old Turtle wax MF drying towel to remove it (back in the day).

FK is the same thing, a hybrid paste sealant, but a durable one that actually looks quite good. Its a little more forgiving to use however.

Shampoo plus is great. Best bulk shampoo going beside hyper wash, I still use it even after 6 years of this stupid hobby.

Also wtf at tough coat, just mist the pannel then wipe it around with a cloth. Do the whole car then run round it again with a fresh microfibre.

Dont rate Gold Class, its too strong. Ideal for the person that doesnt want to wax his car, contains gloss enhancers IIRC.

  F56 MINI Cooper S
I used to do my alloys with 476 which is why I thought of buying it again, but may knock that on the head as it is a hard product to use. Hopefully get on better with Zaino Z8 - can you see this when applying to the paintwork? e.g see where i have applied it? With TC i kept adding more as the stuff i had put on wasnt visable! Which is why i like tripple, can see where i''m applying it. Doesnt help applying it to silver and white lol.

Shampoo plus seems a bonus, more expensive that gold class but should last me longer.

thanks for all the help, much appreciated.

  Not a 320d
Yeah and no. Just mist the pannel , wipe it about and go back round the car with a clean cloth and gently buff. Simples.

  Clio 182, Astra Sri
Are you doing all the work outside?

I find it is harder to see what your doing in daylight tbh

Z8 is a stunning product for finish, but I question it's durability! IMO it's a posh QD

Used the P1, CQUK and I1 yesterday.

P1 by hand really works, but with a f**k load of effort. Not something I'd like to do regularly.

I love I1 and what it offers, but I was almost drunk off the fumes, a whole interior with it needs a good 5-6 hours ventilation.

CQUK, Lovely finish after the reload, but don't let it cure for long! It goes like C1 when left too long, really gluey and hard to remove. To be expected for such a durable sealant though! Didn't even use half the bottle on a whole car either.

  Clio 182, Astra Sri
This is what worries me with the cquartz

I want it on my car so bad but don't feel I have the experience in these types of lsp and truly don't want to mess it up

Come do my 182 chap lol

  Fiesta ST200
Tough coat is very oily. You don't need much at all and it might not appear as though anything has gone on.

As said before, 2 sprays onto an applicator (I use the 'dual' applicator they do on the black side) should be more than enough for a panel or 2.
