What is it...

...when I look up in my 182, theres a small (tiny) blue "button" next to the map light on the roof. What is it / what does it do?

Also, have I found the ECU plug under the front centre console ashtray? Looked remarkably like one, but didnt manage to pull the top off to confirm. Does anyone have the SW for download?

You can get limited access software from some companies but to get the software to access the full Renault ECU etc then you need Renault software and they wont sell it or give out out at al.

No one who isnt an employee has it. There are ways round this Im working on at the moment. The cable Renault use is one problem the software is another. The cable isnt to much of a problem.

Nothing unusual there then! Are you a bit of an electronics wiz? I do know someone who spent an awful lot of time recreating the Lotus "TEK" tool for the Elan SE which is the diagnostics SW the dealers use. Not an easy task.

Is the Renault std ECU programable? - e.g the mapping?

Is there any encryption on the ECU?

When renault service the car, does it reset all params to the factory settings?

Are the "some companies" just general OBD software suppliers, or is it more specfic to the Renault ECU?

Obd support for the clio is minimal unless you have the protocol specs for the clio, which runs the ISO Fast initial.

My obd tool can read DTCs and the usuall obd live data but thats about it.

If someone has the pid codes and the full specs then email them to me!

Oh and the blue nipple is the climate sensor.

Not much of an electronics wizz I can fiddle stuff and studies it at colleg/uni but not indepth.

the stock ecu is remappable and if you have the Renault software you can change the maps this has been fixed by fastchips and they can remap buthe stock ecu but thats all they can do.

Im working on a crack but its more illegal than tecnical. I will share any info I get Tom if I can.

Reanult doesnt setup the parameters they ca sometime upload new ECU software but thats only if there new stuff out.
