I have to say though... how effective are these washers as all they do is spray a bit of water on them, and it's not exactly high-powered. Surely they're not that much use without li'l light wipers?

TBH, I don't think they are there to be effective, they are simply there to abide by the law that car's with Xenon headlamps must have the washers in order that particles of dirt don't refract the light and dazzle oncoming road users.
