What's the best stuff to use on a ktec carbon fibre Bonnet just recently bought a second hand Bonnet and it could do with a good Polish it's got a few swirls in it what's the best stuff to use on it with out destroying it lol
Many thanks steve
most carbonfiber bonnets are just a clear gell coat finish so they do mark easy and look old and worn, try hand polishing it a little and if that doesnt improve then maybe look into taking it to a body shop and get them to put a few coats of clear coat on it, this will give you a better base to polish, also give them the ability to flat it before clearing and give you a flatter finish as most carbon parts have a sludgy peal to them
I wouldn't recommend anyone wet sand to remove swirls. that's not what it's really for, you'll be removing too much gel / clear coat and then need to refine and polish back just to get rid of the sanding marks. If you're not careful you'll strike through the gel / clear coat, just as Toby (an experienced detailer IMO) did wet sanding his own bonnet.
Get on the Detailing sub forum, loads of info and sticky's.
