What size tyres on a 172 cup?

What size tyres are fitted as standard to the 16" x 7" Speedlines that are fiitted to the 172 cup?

Can you wander away from this and fit a different size? Are there any benefits?

195.45.16 standard

or even 205.45.16

suppose it would give an even wider track on the 205's

Do 205/45/16's fit? i.e No rubbing. even on full lock etc?

Does anyone here run with 205's

I'm thinking of Yokohama Parada 205/45/16's

205's will rub when cornering hard. Well mine do.

costco very good and cheap too

some makes of 205/45/16 rub with turini's, Kumho's rub, Uniroyal dont. :S

205/40's work as well. Best off sticking to the 205/45's PE2's or GSD3's. Both highly rated

Will running 205/40 help ease the rubbing issue? I appreciate that the width is the problem but will running with a slightly lower profile produce more clearance?
