my sony dsc 200 is a great little camera but it is no good for motorsport and that is what i use the camera for mostly so i have decided to get a digital SLR but which one?
i seen a Nikon D50 in jessops the other day it came with the std lens and a tamron 200mm for £550 iirc, is that a good price and is it any good for motorsport?
also what other cameras should i be looking at around the £500 mark?

thanks

You need to look at the Canon EOS 350D as well as the Nikon D50, also worth a look is the Pentax one around the same price.

I'd have route around on the net before choosing your lens, the body is one thing but its the lens which is the difference between a crap pic and a great pic

And whatever you do DONT buy at Jessops, they know fook all and are expensive, find a decent e-tailer, i use warehouse express but im sure people can recommend others.

i bought my 350d kit for £450 from dixons before christmas which is a great price so don't discount high street either, if you catch them at the right time with the right deal......

I used the local London Camera exchange to price match Warehouse Express for my 350D, local service and no delivery costs. Happy days.

just been to jessops to have a look and the D50 is £419.99 but there is a sign up saying they will match even internet prices and in currys.digital the D50 is £397.89 and they come with the 18-55mm nikon lens.
so if i could get jessops to match that price or even a cheaper price and then get the special offer Tamron 70-300mm auto focus lens for £100 that would be ok, as i would rather buy it from a local shop just in case i have problems with it

i looked at the other cameras like the cannon eos350d and they are just too expensive and as this is my first SLR it will take me years to find out everything it can do anyway
